Finola Hughes Taking Three Months Off From 'General Hospital'

General Hospital star Finola Hughes will next direct Byrd and the Bees.

Emmy-winning actress Finola Hughes will be taking a leave from ABC soap opera General Hospital and the role of Anna Devane for approximately three months to direct her next film, Byrd and the Bees.

"She will be back, rest assured," head writer Ron Carlivati tells Soap Opera Digest.

Byrd and the Bees stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Peter Stormare and Tracy Spiridakos, and features an all-star cast that includes recently departed GH star Ian Buchanan (Duke Lavery). The film tells the story of struggling author Rebecca Byrd (Spiridakos), who lives the most romantic story she's never written on an impromptu trip to Scotland.
