Nick & Althea Get Married Today on Retro TV's 'The Doctors'

Althea (Elizabeth Hubbard) holds the hand of her best friend, Maggie (Lydia Bruce) as the prepares to leave for her wedding to Nick (Gerald Gordon).
If you're not watching the 1968 repeats of classic NBC soap opera The Doctors on Retro TV, you are missing a writing and acting masterpiece, the very best programming daytime television has to offer. Today at 12 p.m. ET, the much-anticipated wedding of Dr. Althea Davis (Emmy winner Elizabeth Hubbard) and Dr. Nick Bellini (Gerald Gordon) finally happens.

Back in 2012, Nick & Althea came in at 39 on our countdown of the "50 Greatest Soap Couples of All Time" list. After watching nearly a year's worth of episodes, and the chemistry on display between the two actors, they probably deserved to be much, much higher.

Today's wedding, which originally aired on November 11, 1968 (less than a week after Richard Nixon was elected President of the United States), promises to be fun and memorable. Don't miss it!

Nick and Althea were always a favorite couple of mine, although these episodes are before my time.

  3. The wedding was amazing, and so realistic. I thought to my that I wish we had weddings like this today but there really aren't any couples like this on soaps right now. Gerald Gordon and Elizabeth Hubbard have unbelievable chemistry.
