'General Hospital' Casts Dee Wallace as Patricia Spencer

Dee Wallace
General Hospital has cast Dee Wallace in the role of Pat Spencer, the long-lost sister of Luke (Anthony Geary) and Bobbie (Jacklyn Zeman), according to Soap Opera Digest.

"It's such a brilliant choice," Zeman tells the magazine. "I'm a huge fan of her as an actress and as a teacher, as well. I absolutely love the woman!"

Originally from Kansas City, Kansas, Dee Wallace has worked as an author, teacher, dancer and actress in film, television, and stage for over 40 years. Her career began in New York where she studied with famous acting legend Uta Hagen before moving to Los Angeles where she found her mentor, Charles Conrad.

With over 150 credits to her name, Wallace has worked with countless producers and directors and some of Hollywood’s biggest names, including Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, Wes Craven, Joe Dante, Lewis Teague, Stephen King, Blake Edwards and Rob Zombie.

Her many film credits include The Hills Have Eyes, The Howling, Cujo, Secret Admirer, The Frighteners, 10 and of course, her role as Mary in Steven Spielberg’s E.T., The Extraterrestrial. Wallace recently completed three films for release in 2015: False Memory Syndrome, Zombie Killers: Elephant’s Graveyard and Flowers in December.

She has starred in over twenty movies of the week and four hit television series. Other credits include Grey’s Anatomy, Switched at Birth, My Name Is Earl, Cold Case and Without a Trace. She is recurring at present on GRIMM for NBC and The Whispers for ABC.

  1. And don't forget her late husband played Bill on Days in the early 90's.

  2. I'm so excited about this! I love when writers mine the mythology of the show and they've dug deep to find Pat Spencer. Its just a shame that there aren't more roles for women over 50 on daytime.

    1. I tweeted the other day that I would love to see what Doug Marland's long-term bible/outline was for the Spencer family. He introduced Bobbie and Luke, and threw a Pat mention into a script, which I'm sure meant something for down the road. Then he left and it never happened.

  3. Wasn't Pat supposed to be older than Luke & Bobbie?

Plus, we don't need never-seen Pat Spencer but what about Laura Spencer? One Genie Francis as Laura is worth 3/4 of the bloated cast. Any truly emotional journey for Luke needs Laura IMO. Laura and Tracy teaming up and taking the lead on the story would be compelling to watch.

Throughout this year-long story, Tony Geary's performances have been excruciating. I've always felt he was overrated but the current "vanity project" has produced some of the worst acting I have ever witnessed.

This story has dragged or so long to the point that I no longer care about the conclusion. The story seems to change direction on a dime but appears to be headed down the road of Luke having suffered childhood abuse which caused his personality to splinter. This head writer has proven that he cannot craft a story of multiple personality disorder or anything of emotional resonance. Just not his wheelhouse. The camp was often fun on OLTL but hasn't been nearly as enjoyable on GH. I know many complained about Robert Guza, but GH always felt like a sophisticated soap opera when he was head writer for the show. This version of GH is cartoonish and no longer satisfying to watch as a whole (while I do like the current Michael v. Sonny and the ever-watchable Maura West.)

GH needs a co-head writer and Tony Geary needs to retire.
