Ray Wise On His New Y&R Character: 'He Certainly Hopes To Reestablish A Relationship With The Beautiful Nikki'

Ray Wise started his career on daytime drama LOVE OF LIFE. He returns
to CBS this month to play Ian Ward in THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS.
TV Guide Magazine's Michael Logan spoke with actor Ray Wise in a new interview about his upcoming role on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, Ian Ward, the New World Commune cult leader that impregnated Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) with Dylan (Steve Burton) decades ago. Ian shows up at Nikki's doorstep on January 23rd with an agenda.

[SPOILER ALERT]

"I can't reveal his big secret reason for coming to town — what he really wants — but he certainly hopes to reestablish a relationship with the beautiful Nikki," Wise teases.

"He went to prison for his crimes and has since become a self-help guru and author who's now heading an organization known as The Path," the actor adds. "He's very busy passing out business cards and promoting his cause."

Wise may be best known to the general public for his role as Leland Palmer on Twin Peaks but many daytime fans remember him for his nearly seven year run as Jamie Rollins on the CBS soap opera LOVE OF LIFE in the 1970s.

"Any actor who looks down on soap work is being naïve," says Wise. "They don't know what the hell they're talking about!"

  1. I'm not a big fan of Dylan being Nikki's son but I do love Ray Wise and wishing him well in this new role. It sounds like it could be played as creepy and comically at the same time.

  2. We'll see a week of his performance, then we are all boycotting for February. This won't be riveting enough to keep me around! Y&R is sinking ......First to Last ... SMH
