NEWS: Daytime Emmy Awards, Matt Di Angelo, James Sutton, Michael B. Jordan, Victor Alfieri, Jennifer Finnigan

Who Will Air The Daytime Emmys?
Cable outlet HLN has broadcast the Daytime Emmy Awards for the past two years, but there won't be a third. "It's fairly definite," Albie Hecht, the network's vice president and general manager, tells Soaps In Depth. "I just want to put a pause on everything and figure out what we're doing before we make any commitments. Shows like [the Daytime Emmys] need commitments in advance to plan and I don't think we can make that commitment."

Matt Di Angelo returning to EASTENDERS as Deano Wicks
The actor will return to filming in February in his role as Deano Wicks, the estranged son of Shirley Carter (Linda Henry).

HOLLYOAKS star James Sutton 'bored' of gay assumptions
The 30-year-old, who portrays gay character John Paul McQueen in the Channel 4 soap, took to Twitter to address the issue. Replying to a fan who had expressed shock at the actor having a girlfriend and asked if he was gay in real life, Sutton replied: "No. And weirdly I'm not an English teacher in Chester either."

Furthering his comments, he said: "Please dont be mean to the girl in my last RT, she was only asking. My bad for being sarcastic in my response. Bad James."

He later added: "I guess sexuality isnt really a big deal to me so I sometimes get a bit bored of the whole 'are you gay in real life' question. NB. the character I play in Hollyoaks isnt defined by his sexuality, nor should anyone be. Its just not, for me, a conversation worth having."

Worcestershire sexual assault referral center praises soap storyline
A forensic nurse has praised a soap opera for tackling the issue of male rape in a current storyline – and hopes it will encourage victims in Worcester to come forward. Emma Durmaz, clinical manager and forensic nurse at the Glade Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) in Bransford, near Worcester, said the hard-hitting plotline of Channel 4's HOLLYOAKS was well researched, bringing to light the psychological trauma of rape.

Michael B. Jordan on His Breakthrough Year: "A Dream Come True"
"It feels amazing, honestly, to work hard at something for such a long time and then to get accolades. It feels good to be respected by your peers and have people appreciate my work. It's a dream come true. My mom and dad always told me, 'You put the hard work in and the time in, and it'll pay off.' I've just been trying to keep my head down, focus on my craft and do good work."

Former DAYS OF OUR LIVES and BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL actor Victor Alfieri: I Was Attacked With a Hairbrush!
Alfieri has just got a restraining order against 47-year-old Christopher Veech, who lives with Alfieri's neighbor. According to docs, Veech beat him in the face last month with a hairbrush ... and has relentlessly harassed him for more than a year and threatened to put him in the hospital.

According to Alfieri, Veech was arrested for battery but released a day later ... and the harassment never stopped.

Jennifer Finnigan becomes a United States citizen
Finnigan (ex-Bridget, THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL), a native of Montreal, Canada, is set to become a United States citizen today. "I decided it was finally time," the actress tells Soaps In Depth exclusively. "It would have happened sooner due to the length of time that I've been living here and [also] because I'm married to an American [actor Jonathan Silverman], but I've not really had the time. I know that sounds strange, but I'm never really in town."
