Thursday Night Ratings: THE CRAZY ONES Premieres Big; GLEE, PARENTHOOD & GREY'S ANATOMY Have Lowest Rated Premieres Ever

CBS claimed a huge victory as the Thursday overnight Nielsen ratings came in. Check out a roundup of reports below.

From CBS:
THE CRAZY ONES, featuring the return of Robin Williams to network television, premiered to 15.61 million viewers, making it the season's #1 new program, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Thursday, Sept. 26.

The series premiere of THE CRAZY ONES was first in viewers (15.61m), adults 25-54 (5.4/13) and adults 18-49 (4.0/11). CBS posted its best adults 25-54 delivery in the 9:00-9:30 time slot since March 12, 2009 and its best adults 18-49 delivery since Nov. 12, 2009.

THE CRAZY ONES more than doubled the premiere of "The Michael J. Fox Show" in viewers (vs. 7.23m, +115%), doubled in adults 25-54 (vs. 2.7, +100%) and nearly doubled it in adults 18-49 (vs. 2.1, +90%) from 9:00-9:30 PM.

At 8:00 PM, the seventh season premiere of THE BIG BANG THEORY was first in viewers (18.30m), adults 25-54 (7.0/20) and adults 18-49 (5.3/18). Compared to last year's season premiere, THE BIG BANG THEORY was up +11% in adults 25-54 (from 6.3/17), +6% in adults 18-49 (from 5.0/16) and added +2.64m viewers (from 15.66m +17%). THE BIG BANG THEORY posted premiere highs in these measures.

At 8:30 PM, a second episode of THE BIG BANG THEORY (S) was first in viewers (19.52m), adults 25-54 (7.6/20) and adults 18-49 (5.8/17). THE BIG BANG THEORY (S) was the night's #1 program in these measures.

TWO AND A HALF MEN, with its 11th season premiere, was first in viewers (11.54m) and adults 25-54 (4.1/10), and was second in adults 18-49 (2.9/08).

At 10:00 PM, ELEMENTARY's second season premiere was first in viewers (10.14m) and was second behind a two-hour "Grey's Anatomy" in adults 25-54 (2.9/07) and adults 18-49 (2.1/06).

For the night, CBS was first in viewers (14.21m), adults 25-54 (5.0/13) and adults 18-49 (3.7/11). Compared to last year's premiere Thursday, CBS was up +2% in viewers, +9% in adults 18-49 and +11% in adults 25-54. CBS won its fourth consecutive premiere Thursday in viewers and three of the last four in adults 25-54 and adults 18-49.

On CBS.com, THE CRAZY ONES had the highest premiere day traffic for a new comedy series debut to date, the highest premiere day traffic so far this season, and triple-digit growth across all metrics over the same time period last year. THE BIG BANG THEORY also hit a new milestone with its best premiere day opener on CBS.com in the show's history.

From ABC:
ABC Prime (8-11pm - 7.9 million and 2.7/8 in AD18-49): With an encore of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Grey's premiere, ABC finished #2 on season-premiere Thursday in viewers and young adults, defeating Fox and NBC. The 10th season 2-hour premiere of Grey's Anatomy was Thursday's dominant #1 drama in AD18-49 (3.4/9), outdelivering Fox's Glee (+70% - 2.0/5), CBS' Elementary (+62% - 2.1/6) and NBC's Parenthood (+113% - 1.6/5). Grey's opened ahead of its May finale in viewers and young adults. ABC posted its highest rated Thursday with series programming in 1 year - since 9/27/12.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. encore (8-9pm - 5.2 million and 1.4/4 in AD18-49): Gaining additional exposure with its Thursday replay, through 2 telecasts ABC's debut episode of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has delivered a combined 17.3 million viewers and a 6.1/18 in AD18-49. The ABC repeat drama drew 1.9 million more viewers in the hour than NBC's Parks and Recreation (3.3 million and 1.3/4) premiere and also led by 8% in AD18-49.

Grey's Anatomy Season 10 premiere (9-11pm - 9.3 million and 3.4/9 in AD18-49): Building sharply on its lead-in at 9pm, Grey's was up over its May finale (9.0 million and 3.1/9 on 5/16/13) by 3% in Total Viewers and by 10% in Adults 18-49, with its largest audience since March (3/21/13) and its highest young adult number since October (10/4/12). The ABC drama won its 2-hour time period by 21% over runner-up CBS (3.4/9 vs. 2.8/8).

From NBC:
At 10 p.m., the fifth season debut of PARENTHOOD (1.6/5 in 18-49, 5.2 million viewers overall) doubled NBC’s premiere-week result in this slot last year (1.6 vs. 0.8 for ROCK CENTER) and is up 65% in total viewers (5.2 million vs. 3.1 million).

Versus NBC’s averages in the slot last season, PARENTHOOD is up 60% in 18-49 rating (1.6 vs. 1.0, L+SD non-sports) and up 55% in total viewers (5.166 million vs. 3.333 million).

FOX's GLEE had 5.166 million viewers with an adults 18-49 ratings of 2.0 - its lowest-rated premiere ever.

NBC's PARENTHOOD was watched by 5.166 million viewers with an adults 18-49 of 1.6 - its lowest rated premiere ever.

  1. I didn’t care for the Crazy Ones…To juvenile and slap stick comedy for me! It didn’t make my favorite list!
