Nigerian-born actress Pepi Sonuga has joined the cast of GENERAL HOSPITAL. She has taken over the role of Taylor Dubois, replacing the departing Samantha Logan.
Taylor arrived in Port Charles on June 4th, after her parents asked her to stay with her brother Felix (Marc Anthony Samuel) for the summer. She actually joined Britt as Felix and Sabrina's roommates which resulted in them sleeping on the couch.
Taylor also managed to have sex with TJ on prom night. Unfortunately for her, TJ only had eyes for Molly even after they spent the night together.
Sonuga will debut this month.
I wondered why the teen set had disappeared recently. Sonuga has a good resemblance to Marc Anthony Samuel. I hope they'll develop the character of Taylor more and explain her hold over Felix.
ReplyDeleteThe hold Taylor has over her brother is , there parents have no clue that Felix is gay .
DeleteActually there has never been an explanation as to what Taylor has over Felix. We might assume that he's not out to his parents but I think it may be more than that.
DeleteThe actress is gorgeous but based on how Black females have been written by RC (Destiny anyone?), I don't have much hope.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'll ask. What was wrong with Destiny on the TV version of OLTL?
DeleteFor some reason my reply didn't process--must write this all over again (le sigh).
DeleteI'll paraphrase my remarks that never got posted:
As I saw it, as compared with her peers (Starr, Matthew and Dani), Destiny was a mere facilitator of action rather than a driver. Things happened to her and she reacted, sort of like an object. I know the actress was never Academy Award material but she had a likable quality and could be endearing at times and on daytime, I've seen lots of actors of limited ability drive storyline more times than I care to recall.
Destiny was more of a 'type', rather than a true character. She was involved in story but her story trajectory was very basic (I liken it to the dramatic version of 'painting by numbers') and the character itself was very one dimensional.
This is just my opinion but I am a writer whose M.F.A. concentration was in Dramatic Writing and yes, I am also a Black woman myself.
I think the word I used in the post that ended up getting an error message is that Destiny seemed more the instrument of objectification but unfortunately, in the annals of Daytime Drama, history is littered with such characters. I could probably write a thesis statement on such characters.
DeleteShe's absolutely stunning! I am curious who they will have her interact with, because I have a strange feeling that TJ is out the door. Maybe they will let her go older, and she can be around Morgan/Kiki/Michael?
ReplyDeleteShe IS gorgeous, she looks way older than TJ or Molly. I so don't care anything about this SL. Sorry, it was a snooze the way it was written early on and I don't see it being anything else if they keep her in hot pursuit of TJ. If they focus on the relationship between brother and sister and her devious schemes in that regard, the character might have a solid chance. JMO, folks.
