William deVry Joins GENERAL HOSPITAL

William deVry has joined the cast of GENERAL HOSPITAL as Derek Wells. The actor shared his excitement about the new role on Facebook revealing that today was his first day at work on GH.

"It is a contract role," deVry wrote. "Very rare these days indeed. And I come to town as the character of Derek Wells. Derek has an agenda, let me tell ya!!!"

deVry's first air date on GENERAL HOSPITAL is July 30th.

The news comes on the 10th anniversary of the day his ALL MY CHILDREN character, Michael Cambias, famously raped Bianca Montgomery (Eden Riegel).  deVry was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award as Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his work on AMC.  He later played Storm Logan in THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL.

More recently he played roles in NIKITA and HEMLOCK GROVE.

TVSource Magazine first reported the deVry to GH news.

  1. Another new character? The canvas is bursting with contract and recurring characters as it is.

With all due respect to this actor, I think that the show would be better served using who is there - or thin out the cast before they start adding contract roles.

  2. Kelly Sullivan is leaving and Bradford Anderson is now off contract. But I expected GH to not replace them since so many have been added recently. I like deVry and will give him a chance.

  3. He's suppose to be playing Connie's boss and with Kelly Sullivan leaving the show, my guess is that he will be taking over at Crimson. Like almost all "new" characters I'm sure there will be some kind of conection to others already in Port Charles. Let's just wait and see what happens. I'm certainly interested in seeing where this goes.
