EASTENDERS' Will Mention The Royal Baby In Tuesday's Episode

Just hours after the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to her son, EASTENDERS producers were scrambling to film last-minute scenes to slot into the episode. The new scenes were shot Monday night and will see Dot Cotton (played by June Brown) discussing the happy news with Abi Branning (Lorna Fitzgerald).

A spokesperson for the show said: "This is such a momentous occasion for the Royal family, the country and of course the residents of Walford that we felt it should be marked in EASTENDERS history."

It’s not the first time the soap has celebrated historical events.  Most recently Andy Murray's Wimbledon victory was referenced.

  1. One of my favorite contemporary references was when biracial tyke, Morgan, began to query his mum about who his bio-father is. That's when the the frustrated Bianca, not ready to talk to her son about this, looked over and saw President Obama on the telly and squawked, "It's HIM ... his name is Baaar-ackkkk Obama, and he lives in America!" ... just to shut the adorable little boy up! .. lol!
