GENERAL HOSPITAL has confirmed that Roger Howarth, Michael Easton and Kristen Alderson will all be back on the ABC soap opera beginning May 10th. They will be playing new characters and not their ONE LIFE TO LIVE characters (Todd, John and Starr)."Exciting storylines full of mystery and intrigue are planned to usher in the return of these actors that will lead to the answer of one of the most asked questions in Port Charles," said a spokesperson.
Howarth was still on the set of Prospect Park's ONE LIFE TO LIVE on Monday when We Love Soaps visited.
TV Guide Magazine reported last month that GH head writer Ron Carlivati was devising clever ways to work around the actor's return.

ReplyDeleteI'd rather them be the OLTL characters, just because they have already established themselves on GH as those characters, but since that isn't possible, I'd like to see new characters.

ReplyDeleteIf they can't be potluck characters I''d say give us someone new. KA as Serena might be OK being Lucy's / Scott's daughter she should a very interesting character. As for Roger & Michael, definitely not doctors!!

ReplyDeleteI would rather see them as their OLTL persona's. I don't see how they can use them as someone else, sounds like unbelieveable story line. I only started watching GH because I missed OLTL so much and they were there which kept OLTL alive for me.

on to do OLTL 2.0. Since the original relaunch
was a 'no go', Easton was free to pursue other
interests. It made sense for all three to head
to GH (as the OLTL characters). I felt they fit
in well there.
Unfortunately, Prospect Park behaved like a
five year old who didn't get their way, not only
with the characters, but the actors too. PP
could not force Howarth, Alderson and Easton to
sign on to OLTL 2.0. Howarth agreed to a short
stint and I'm interested to see how it works
out.
So, using rational thinking, do we want the
three back at GH as NEW characters? I say, if
Ron and Frank can pull it off well, yes.
In the end, it's sort of a black eye for PP
since they chose to be so unreasonable and
work WITH GH. If they think 'hurting' GH will
get ABC to axe the show so they can step in and
run it? They shot themselves in the foot.
I don't care whether Roger returns as Todd or not. I just want him to come back as a guy with Todd's personality who is ion love with Carly.
ReplyDeleteI am opposite, Sean. I think the idea of renaming these characters is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. I don't blame PP one bit for wanting what they PAID a heck of a lot of money for. Go, OLTL and AMC! GH died forever the moment Ron picked up his poison pen IMO. Vampires, oh my! Those are the least of the many things he's done wrong.
ReplyDeleteHe only brought the vampire character in when he realised he probably wouldn't be able to keep Michael as McBain. He was trying to write a way for him to stay on as another character. He was in a shitty situation and did the best he could. GH has been better than it has been in years... In my opinion. I think this OLTL AMC reboot online is gonna be a distater. I don't see it lasting more than a year (and that's being generous). And yes I did watch both shows when they were on.. So this is coming from a fan.

ReplyDeleteYou have no idea what you're talking about. Prospect Park "loaned" the characters to GH temporarily while they were getting funding in place for the relaunch of OLTL and AMC. But in bad faith, ABC and GH's overzealous executive producer decided to kill off certain characters, change story lines and spread vicious lies about Prospect Park's owners, to the actors and everyone else who would listen. Why don't you talk to the actors who have deals with PP on the two soaps. They are beyond thrilled to be working with PP and the launch of the AMC and OLTL will prove you to wrong. Do your homework. PP is run by the former head of Disney Studios, Rich Frank and producer and manager Jeff Kwatinez, both respectable and proven individuals in the entertainment industry. We are embarking on an exciting time for television with the Online Network, and the daytime soaps, and no doubt ABC is nervous. They should be. From what I know the relaunch of AMC and OLTL will put "The Chew" and the rest of those cheap, ridiculous shows to shame.

I'm over all the back stage drama and conspiracy theories. Just excited to have these great performers back. I would love RH as Tom Hardy who turns out to be Felix's father who is really his son with Simone.

ReplyDeleteIt would be very hard to swallow Roger and Kristin not being father and daughter after so many years. To see them play anything different when they're working at the same place won't fly. They should all remain on GH as the OLTL characters. Prospect Park has filled half of OLTL with new characters so I don't understand why they insist on holding onto these three. It's only going to make people not want to watch OLTL. Todd and John should remain Todd and John on GH. I don't think Kristin/Starr has any chemistry with Michael...that said she should either be Starr or not on at all.

With frustrating and silly results. Presented with two options that would preserve at least some amount of history, one way or another, they go with a third option, the only one that happens to squander the bond the audience has built with the existing characters and their SLs.

Yes!they need to return.Roger most of all. His chemistry with Laura Wright was electric. He also brought so much comedy to GH. I laughed every day he was on. He'd be good as a Quartermaine. M.E needs to be paired with Kelly.. As long as its not as Jason. I'm indifferent to K.A returning although I did like Michael more with her in the picture.he'd be a good Cassadine. even looks like one but that would make him related to Sam so that can't happen. He'll likely come back as a non vampire Caleb.. All cured of his delusions.
ReplyDeleteI stopped watching GH because ABC cancelled OLTL, which has been my favorite soap since 1988. They can bring all the past GH characters they want and I still wont ever watch GH again. Both the EP and HW blamed the gay storyline as to why OLTL was cancelled and both are gay(if I'm not mistaken), and then they go to GH. I hope the ratings suffer and they get canned next...it would serve them right, the ungrateful turn-coats. It is my opinion so please no rude responses

I know a lot of people watch tv on the internet, but for now, people still watch more TV the old fashion way on a TV set, not on the internet. I can't stand Ron C., but if they can pull it off, I say go for it.
