Actor Josh Kelly will reprise the role of Cutter Wentworth in ONE LIFE TO LIVE when the show returns (April 29 on The Online Network; available on Hulu, HuluPlus, iTunes and FX Canada). We Love Soaps spoke with him in a brand new interview from the set in Stamford, Connecticut. Read it below:

WE LOVE SOAPS: Welcome back! Did you think this was going to happen?
JOSH KELLY: I thought it would, then it didn't, then I thought it would and it didn't. Now it looks like it is!

WE LOVE SOAPS: How's the commute for you?
JOSH KELLY: I live in a hotel right now.

WE LOVE SOAPS: So kind of like a soap character. They tend to live in hotels.
JOSH KELLY: That's true. Cutter always lived in a hotel, except for once.

JWoww and Josh Kelly
WE LOVE SOAPS: We've seen a lot of promotion the past couple of weeks featuring JWoww, including a video with you giving her acting tips. What was it like working with her?
JOSH KELLY: It was great. She's amazing. She was very natural and very truthful. I guess being in front of the camera that much, she's very comfortable there. She's fun, and a really funny girl.

WE LOVE SOAPS: If you had to give one reason why fans should tune in on April 29, why this is Must-See-Web-TV, what would you say?
JOSH KELLY: It's ONE LIFE TO LIVE and ALL MY CHILDREN. They're back, that's why! It looked like it was dead but no one wanted it to die.

I never thought I'd be on a soap opera when I started my acting career. I didn't think of myself in that way, because I was always the class clown. But getting to be part of it, it's such a beautiful family and beautiful thing that's existed in America's life for so long. To have it go away, it seemed like entertainment was cheapening because of the bottom line; of having a show that costs less, but didn't give more.

WE LOVE SOAPS: Have things changed for Cutter? Is there a new take on the character now? Or is he picking up where he left off?
JOSH KELLY: He's out of jail, and he does not want to go back to jail. I don't know what he's doing to do to keep himself from going to jail. He's working at the club [Shelter]. We've had some really great guests. Nikki (JWoww) works at the club. Nervo was here and so sweet. I think that's all I can mention. We're going to have a lot of musical guests and interesting people coming in and out.

WE LOVE SOAPS: Have you noticed a difference in the writing now that the show will air on the internet -  versus TV?
JOSH KELLY: It's PG-13 now versus whatever it was before. You can curse.

WE LOVE SOAPS: What's your favorite thing about working on this new ONE LIFE TO LIVE?
JOSH KELLY: I like being in Stamford but living in Los Angeles. I like the feeling of being on a set on location. I think it brings the cast together. On the old ONE LIFE TO LIVE you'd come in to work and then leave, unless you had your own clique of friends. I'd hang out with Tom Degnan, Kristen Alderson, Eddie Alderson and Brittany Underwood. But I love all the new people. They are very talented.

WE LOVE SOAPS: Did you grow up in California?
JOSH KELLY: I grew up all over. My dad was in the Navy. I was born in Japan and grew up all over.

WE LOVE SOAPS: Why do I hear a southern influence?
JOSH KELLY: I used to be in the Army in Georgia. My mom and dad live in the south now.

WE LOVE SOAPS: With the show shooting five weeks, then off five weeks, will you return to LA on your time off?
JOSH KELLY: Yes! That's the other thing I really love about it, the flexibility it offers you. I'm hoping it entices more actors to be interested in a show like this. I booked a couple of jobs before but couldn't do them because of working on the show. ABC wasn't able to clear my schedule. Now my schedule is half open already. You can shift things around to the beginning or end of a shoot.

WE LOVE SOAPS: Are you still the class clown?
JOSH KELLY: I'm still the class clown. Not while we're working, if it detracts from the work. But if it adds to the situation, laughter really helps a lot of people.

  1. There's a sentence on there in the interview with Josh Kelly saying "I don't what he's doing to do to keep himself from going to jail." Should there be a "know" between "don't and "want", and shouldn't be "doing" should be "going", or is that how Josh spoke in the interview?

  2. I hope we see a lot of Cutter.

  3. Thank you for this article. I can't wait for the return of OLTL and AMC and am really excited that they will be available on HULU Plus. XOXOXO to both casts and I hope everyone who is a fan watches too.

  4. I love Josh Kelly as cutter!!I thought he was a real find when he first came on oltl.He is a character i hope we see a lot of in the future.

  5. I wish you asked whether or not we'll see a little tush.
