Tony Todd Joins THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS

Film and primetime actor Tony Todd has joined the cast of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS as Leslie and Tyler's father, Gus Rogan.

Todd announced the news in a recent Horror Society interview.

"I’m working on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS that just celebrated its 40th anniversary," he explained. "They came to me with a character that I just couldn't refuse."

"The difference in working in the soap world, you have to come totally prepared and you’re there and you basically have one take," Todd continued. "I look at that as a challenge and my character is really a unique one. I play a prisoner who’s falsely accused of murdering his wife."

Todd debuts on March 19 but isn't sure how long he will be sticking around Genoa City.

"I've done 4 episodes so far and I’m going to do at least 20," he said. "So that’s what I’m doing right now, I just worked yesterday. It’s a whole new demographic, I have my reasons for everything that I do."

Todd's primetime appearances include roles in 24, SMALLVILLE and CHUCK. His movie roles include Final Destination, Sleepwalk and Candyman.

  1. I like Tony Todd but that's a horrible picture and clip. Yikes!

I'm so enjoying Y&R these days. Delving into Leslie & Tyler's past and connecting it to Senator Wheeler (played by the fantastic Mark Pinter) has been really good. It's too bad that Darnell Williams had been wasted as Sarge because he could have had this role filled by Tony Todd.

  2. Darnell looks a little young to be Leslie & Tyler's father but he definitely seemed to fit in the business world. I hope Nick will hire him!

As for Todd, i never would've thought to see him in my favorite daytime soap but was thrilled, he's an awesome actor whether he plays a good or bad guy!
