DARKSIDE OF THE BAY Premieres Today; Summer Special Stars THE BAY's Kristos Andrews, Jade Harlow, Martha Madison, Ignacio Serrichio, Taylor Stanley & Derrell Whitt

Derrell Whitt stars as Will Campbell
DARKSIDE OF THE BAY, the special five-part summer spin-off of Emmy-nominated THE BAY, premieres Thursday, August 9th at 3:15 p.m. ET. Revolving around THE BAY’s Generation Y, it's a life or death situation when the younger residents of Bay City dare venture into the wrong side of town. Featuring THE BAY’s Kristos Andrews (Peter Garrett), Jade Harlow (Lianna Ramos), Martha Madison (Marly Nelson-Foster), Ignacio Serrichio (Manny Ramos), Taylor Stanley (Zoey Johnson) and Derrell Whitt (Will Campbell).

When Lianna, in her quest for another fix, stumbles into a situation too hot to handle, Will comes to her rescue, putting his own life in jeopardy in the process. As he searches for his missing mother and brother, Peter faces those intent on serving their own brand of justice. Zoey dares to face the unthinkable after summoning Marly and Manny’s help. In the aftermath of all the chaos, Manny attempts to pick up the pieces of Marly’s shattered heart.

"Every city has an area you want to stay away from," teases creator Gregori J. Martin. "This is that area! DARKSIDE is a lot edgier, a lot grittier than anything we've seen on THE BAY so far. The cast was phenomenal as always! It's so fun to see the characters they play caught up in the hood and slums of Bay City."

Reeking havoc in Bay City's back alleys are Scott Bailey as the persistent and cold-hearted reporter, Nathan Perkins; Brian Gaskill as Chase Walker, the arrogant thug who enjoys his job a bit too much; and Terri Ivens as the sultry and knife-wielding call girl, Orchid. Celeste Fianna returns as Tamara Garrett, a member of the Garrett family who harbors her own dark and seedy secrets. Making his debut in the first act, Rib Hillis guests stars as a scantly-clad Matthew Johnson who offers Lianna fair warning for what she is about to get herself into. Massi Furlan guest stars as Anton, a goon determined to exact deadly revenge on Peter Garrett for a murder he didn’t commit.

"This is some of my favorite stuff I've ever shot," says Whitt. "Will has to figure himself out of more mischief than he's ever had to before. Every shoot date was a blast. Hope you guys love it as much as I do."

Kristos Andrews stars as Peter Garrett
"I'm really excited about the new look and feel of this spin-off and where Gregori's taking us with the story," adds Andrews. "Things pretty much pick up where Season 2 left off so it's a great interlude for what's to come in Season 3. We introduce a few new faces, like my co-star, Terri, who was awesome to work with. I'm also really happy about working with my real-life sister, Celeste, on the show! I've been wanting to for a while and I'm so glad we finally had the opportunity. It went really well. The whole shoot was fun and I can't for everybody to see the finished produced."

  1. Love the Darkside! Can't wait to see where this takes us. Poor Will! Can't help but worry what Lianna is getting herself into. Look out, Peter! Great to see Terri Ivens and Brian Gaskill back on my screen!

  2. The level of talent involved with The Bay never ceases to amaze me! With soaps dying, it is so wonderful to see some of my favorites still on screen! And the writing....Bravo! Always something around the corner!

  3. The way TPTB at NBC/DAYS treats is veteran and talent actors is shameful. But I have THE BAY to see them, and other great soap actors. THE BAY also has some of the best young actors. And TPTB on this show are able to integrate all ages, without the idiotic obsession of the networks to only have youth and to only care about under 35 year olds watching.

Enjoyed this episode with the younger cast. And will watch more. And of course, cannot wait for Season 3.

  4. Fantastic! But then again, I wouldn't expect anything less from this group.
