DAYTIME DIATRIBE: The Best & Worst of Friday's THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS

Ricky's shenanigans, Sharon and Victor's run in with Billy and Victor, and Danny's goodbye were front and center on Friday's THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS (June 1, 2012). Below is my best and worst, and a grade for the day.

THE BEST:
* The Phyllis flashbacks were a perfect way to catch Ricky (and new fans) up on the history (and Michelle Stafford hairstyles).

* As Danny left town to go do another concert, he shared an awkward and sad goodbye with Christine. It was nice seeing them together again, although 25 years later I still want Danny to be with Traci.

* Christine's (it's still hard for me to not write Cricket) conversation with Michael was sweet, including his concern she was all work and no play with no one to come home to at night. It's too bad Lauralee Bell isn't available full-time.

* Billy and Victor's talk at the bar was nothing new but entertaining.

* Billy's stammering when he realized Victoria knew he had slept with Sharon was priceless.

* Ricky's reaction when Paul was intriguing and a nice contrast to all his nastiness.

* Daisy, Daniel and Tucker did not appear on the episode.

THE WORST:
* The pairing of Sharon and Victor has been widely panned by fans. Even Victoria was bored talking to Sharon about her relationship with Victor on Friday. She was reading something on her phone during the conversation.

* Sharon telling Victoria about the night she slept with Billy before his wedding to Chloe. That newsflash could have been delivered much better. Victoria telling Victor later on the phone was much better.

* Sharon and Victor have lost any chemistry they ever had.

GRADE FOR THE DAY: B
The flashbacks made it a good episode for me. Share your best and worst of the day in our Comments section.

  1. I agree the most of today's episode was on par and very enjoyable to watch. I liked Phyllis's talk with Avery connecting about her black ghosts of Phyllis past. Loved the talk between Christine & Michael with a nod about Michael being "gone" at the time meaning him in the slammer for stalking Cricket & acknowledge his deeds. I did like how finally the hairstylist run a comb and have actually did something with Victoria's hair AH looked quite fetching today, instead being a mess. Victor & Sharon nauseating and had go to the medicine chest for my Tums. I really like the set up they are doing with Phyllis and the backstory...the flashbacks was EXCELLENT! This story could have the element if the beats are played right to be good soap, with Michael becoming DA and possibly filing charges against Phyllis & Avery defending Phyllis and her only support. Phyllis being turned on from many in GC...it's getting good Lucy!

  2. You just know there's a court case coming. You don't become DA on a soap unless there is someone about to be prosecuted.

  3. In response to Roger's comment, then why even bother bringing Heather back to town.......... unless she's planning on being Michael's second chair during this trial!
