ABC News Announces Josh Elliott and Lara Spencer as Anchors of GOOD AFTERNOON AMERICA

Beginning Monday, July 9, ABC News will air a one hour extension of GOOD MORNING AMERICA for nine weeks titled GOOD AFTERNOON AMERICA. The show replaces THE REVOLUTION in the ABC Daytime lineup.

The program will be anchored by GMA’s Josh Elliott and Lara Spencer, with Sam Champion, Robin Roberts, and George Stephanopoulos joining in with special appearances. The energetic, fast-paced program will feature the most-talked about celebrities, performances by the biggest names in the music industry, the latest pop culture news plus offer original entertainment, lifestyle, health, workplace and consumer reporting from an all-star list of contributors and other members of the ABC family.

“It’s tremendous that GMA has this opportunity to extend its reach, and bring something new to the afternoons,” said co-anchor Josh Elliott.  ”It is gratifying to play a role in it and genuinely hope our audience will come along for the ride.”  Co-anchor Lara Spencer added, “I am beyond excited and honored to be part of this new chapter for the GOOD MORNING AMERICA family.  ’Good Afternoon America’ gives us the opportunity to reach a different audience, and better yet, spend a little more time with our morning viewers who want to be a part of the conversation and fun we plan on bringing to afternoon TV.”

GOOD AFTERNOON AMERICA will air at 2 p.m. ET and will be taped at GMA’s studio at the crossroads of the world, the heart of Times Square. Additionally, Goodmorningamerica.com has expanded its lead and in April, had 17 million more unique users than Today.com.

  7. No ABC soap fans will watch this program, just like the Spew & The Revolution. Keep up the boycott, great soap fans! Hopefully ABC will wise up and bring back the 2 iconic programs that gave them dedicated viewers for over 80 years combined. Long Live OLTL!!!

  8. I watched OLTL and AMC when I was a kid. I hate that the genre is ending especially since it has played a major role in Primetime. I think it's great ABC sees how upset fans were but I can't boycott every 2pm time slot. There isn't that much on tv that I do like so if something good comes along I'm going to try and watch. Love John and Lara. Unfortunately OLTL won't come back and neither will this type of US medium. I hate it too because they were like family.

  9. Good Morning America is already on every morning, why would anyone want to watch it in the afternoon also? This is going to be another huge fail for ABC. Bring back AMC and OLTL and I'll watch ABC again!

  10. What more could possibly be said that they didn't say in their morning show? C'mon. Try try try but I will not watch any daytime shows on ABC that are not of the soap genre. When or if General Hospital is cancelled I'm done with ABC completely and yes that includes primetime.
