FLASHBACK: Daytimers (James Earl Jones, Susan Sarandon, Lawrence Fishburne, etc.) in Film (1976)

In 1976, talent such as James Earl Jones, Susan Sarandon and Lawrence Fishburne were known for their soap roles as much as--or even more than--their film work. In a two-page photo compilation, the third 1976 volume of "Daytime TV Super Special" captures 10 images of daytime stars on the cusp of movie-stardom.

For each actor, there's a photo with a caption. Each caption mentions their best-known soap work as well as a recent film project. Included are Diahn Williams, James Earl Jones, Marilyn Chris, William Redfield, Lila Skala, Susan Sarandon, Roy Scheider, Joanna Miles, Renne Jarret, Peggy McCay, Biff McGuire and a young, adorable "Larry Fishburne III."

Entitled "DAYTIMERS CONTINUE TO ACT IN THE MOVIES: More Being Called for Film Roles," the "Special Feature" captures the stars in all sorts of situations. Some examples:
Larry Fishburne III (ONE LIFE TO LIVE) looks up to Kieth Wilkes for pointers in basketball playing in Cornbread, Earl and Me, for American Int'l... Roy Scheider (formerly on LOVE OF LIFE) asks Jeanne Berlin to sample his stew in Sheila Leveine is Dead and Living in New York... Susan Sarandon (formerly on A WORLD APART) is picked up by Robert Redford in a scene from The Great Waldo Pepper (Universal).

We've also included the colorful front cover and table of contents of the magazine, in which the the special feature ran on pages 26 and 27. Please click on the image of each page to expand it into it's own window. Then, you can click again to view an even larger, nicely readable version.
