INDIE SOAP BEAT: New Series ADULTS ONLY & PRISON DANCER, New Episodes of B.J. FLETCHER, NICK NICKY

Here's the latest news and episodes from the world of indie soaps:

* Brian Austin Greene, Vincent Pastore, Danny Nucci, and Brianna Brown are just some of the recognizable names in the cast of ADULTS ONLY, which premieres on March 7 at 8 p.m. ET. The eight-episode series is written, directed and produced by comic book writer Jason M. Burns (“The Expendable One”).

Shot over a period of six days in Mansfield and North Attleboro, ADULTS ONLY stars Todd Poudrier as Chance Rioux, a former Olympic gold medalist who takes a job managing his brother-in-law’s adult brick-and-mortar store to make ends meet.

Burns describes the content on ADULTS ONLY as being PG-13 and, with each episode clocking in at just less than 10 minutes, easily digestible for web audiences.

He tells the Milford Daily News, “We want to tap into an audience (like those) on break at work who wants to watch something that feels like a TV show.”

* PRISON DANCER, an original interactive musical Web series inspired by the viral YouTube phenomenon, the “Dancing Inmates of Cebu,” launched on http://www.youtube.com/prisondancer. Part of the coveted YouTube Partner program, the PRISON DANCER Web series consists of twelve interactive episodes that will roll out over the course of the Spring and coincide with additional special content and engagement opportunities for fans.

Pushing the boundaries of storytelling, PRISON DANCER will transform the content of the Web series into a “performative cinema” event at its official world premiere on March 15th, 2012 as the closing night gala presentation of the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival (SFIAAFF). This is the first time a Web series will be presented as the closing night gala presentation at a film festival. The special “performative cinema” event will include video, live performances by cast members, and maestro-led audience participation.

“PRISON DANCER is a ‘Glee-meets-Miss Saigon’ adventure that paints a fictional portrait of the people behind the prison walls. It is queer, but family friendly; sweet, yet subversive; campy, yet political and poignant,” said Masashi Niwano, Festival & Exhibitions Director, Center for Asian American Media, SFIAAFF. “This closing night gala presentation is an unprecedented experience that rethinks what media is and can be.”
