The SFN Network Greenlights First In-House Production: Teen Soap GORGEOUS

The SFN today announced teen drama soap GORGEOUS, centered around four high school "it girls" and their budding cosmetic empire, has been greenlit to join its popular online network. The series, which garnered interest at ABC Family and Nickelodeon, has an innovative online component that lends itself to web broadcast.

"GORGEOUS taps into the tween and teen girl zeitgeist, exploring the entrepreneurial savvy of Generation Y who love technology, shopping, fame and money," said Stewart St. John who, with partner Todd Fisher, created the new series. "Not only do we explore the loves and lives of the four teen girls as they build their cosmetic business, but we also spotlight the relationships between the girls and their mothers. It's a show with many layers and major brand appeal."

"GORGEOUS is the next-step in the evolution of the one-hour teen drama," said Fisher. "It’s a web series with multi-platform appeal for the Generation Y viewer who lives in a world populated by iPhones, iPads, social networking and video blogging."

The series is written and will be directed by St. John, with St. John and Fisher serving as co-executive producers through their St. John/Fisher Productions shingle.

St. John has spent over a decade writing and producing teen and family television, from Sabrina: The Animated Series, to Disney's Seventeen Again. The team also created gothic web soap California Heaven, and produced over 4000 videos of The Spot for the web and mobile.

An offer has already gone out to a popular teen actress to star as queen bee Maci Vanowen who, with her girlfriends, balances high school with haute couture.

An innovative interactive casting component will be unveiled in the next few days.

Gorgeous will debut summer, 2012 exclusively on The SFN Network at sfntv.com.
