I had to get twitlonger to answer properly :) First, I, Jen Lilley, LOVE Kirsten Storms. I think she's talented, funny, beautiful, and kind. While I have loved my time on GH, I think it's under the saddest of conditions that I'm there.GENERAL HOSPITAL fans, how do you feel about this new?
Because of unforeseen circumstances, I am staying as Maxie. Please know that as a KS fan, I am really sorry. Kirsten is irreplaceable. To keep GH alive, someone had to step into the role. I cannot change what's happened. Yes, I love being on the show, but if KS could have stayed all along, I would have wished a thousand wishes that I could have come on as a different character, for her sake and your sake as a GH fan. Change is never easy.
I hope you will find it in your hearts to stop being so hateful toward me personally, because honestly, after 6 months of it, I feel broken, and it's not helping the show. We have to stand united for the sake of General Hospital's livelihood and for soap fans everywhere. I think all of Kirsten's wonderful fans know that she'd want her fans to support GH and fight like hell for it's renewal. With utmost sincerity: Jen Lilley

Now that is a very classy declaration from an actor in a recast role. I don't know her, but my hat is off to her.
ReplyDeleteI totally think that sucks.....I think Kirsten could keep Maxie going, I mean she IS Maxie.
ReplyDeleteSorry you may be a good actress but you had a HUGE shadow to follow
ReplyDeletePeople aren't stupid People like different things that's what we are, that does not make us STUPID. So STUPID of you to make that comment
ReplyDeleteI think she is great as Maxie. I can actually stand the character now. Here's to a good run for her, and kudos to her for being so classy. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a humble compassionate voice! I admire Jen Lilly for having the most unsympathetic job in daytime right now, and for rising to the occasion.
ReplyDeleteShe is absolutely right in saying soap fans are better united than divided. GH needs unified support to stay on the air now, not petty bickering.
People sometimes forget that actors are real humans with real feelings and real vulnerabilities. Please don't forget that, especially if you say you are someone opposed to bullying.
I applaud her support for KS. I actually like Jen. I see her as quirky bad girl like when Mary O'Brien was Heather, and later after a year off replaced by the more Balanced Robin Matson (who is a KS caliber.) Give her a chance!
ReplyDeleteKudos to Jen for being so classy and I actually like her as Maxie. I wish KS well too but if the show is going to keep Maxie around Jen Lilley is doing a good job playing her.
ReplyDeleteJen, you are wonderful as Maxie :)
ReplyDeleteLook Jen, I like Kirsten Storms and I miss her ♥ and I really hope she will be ok. However I want you to know that if Kirsten had to be replaced I'm glad that it was you. I think you have done a fantastic job as Maxie! ♥. I don't know what all this bashing is about but please know that I wont bash you and I don't think you deserve any of it! Love Twila Ritenour ♥
ReplyDeleteI don't watch GH or really even know who Jen Lilley is but that is a very classy, well thought out response to the hate. Actors and actresses are only human beings doing a job they were asked to do. If you like the character of Maxie and want her to live on, someone had to fill the role. Hating the replacement actress is stupid. Say you don't like her portrayal of Maxie or liked KS's version better - fine. But don't tell the poor actress you hate her. That IS stupid.
ReplyDeletewhat is wrong with KS is she never coming back?
ReplyDeleteIf executives listen to people when they don't like a person who had to be recasted then WHY dont they listen when people speak up about not taking a soap off the air!!! BS
ReplyDeleteIf Kristen was able to be back I'm sure she would, so hellooooo people who haven't gotten it yet, no matter who it is, SOMEONE needed to take her place!!
I am so glad you wrote this because it gives me a place to write what I have been wanting to for quite awhile. I think you are doing a bang-up job as Maxie. I do wish Kirsten well, as what she has is very painful, but I must say, you, Jen, have made the transition very smooth. You have brought your own quirkiness to the part, while still keeping Maxie the undeniably, hopeless romantic she is. Good luck - keep up the good work! Prayers and good health wishes to Kirsten as she fights this health battle. YOUR health must always come first!
ReplyDeleteMissing Kirsten and wishing her all the best. Jen you have done a great job stepping in to fill those shoes. Ignore the haters and keep bringing it to the part. I'm sure it helps Kirsten to know that her role is in competent hands.
ReplyDeleteI think you're doing a great job. I hope Kristen is well soon.
ReplyDeleteWishing the best to both of you!
I was really shocked to see that people were actually being mean to this poor girl. They said she was a temp due to Kristen's illness and I knew right away, she may end up being permanent. It's happened before. I personally think Jens' done an excellent job of stepping into a role that Kristen so obviously owned. That's not an easy task. I give Jen nothing but accolades and support for being able to pull it off. No she's not Kristen, but give her a chance to own the role...you might be surprised.
ReplyDeleteJen, I think you are doing an awesome job. Don't listen to the haters. They have to have something negative to say about everybody or they're not happy. You're a very talented actress and are doing the character of Maxie a great justice. Be proud of yourself, I am.
ReplyDeleteDamon, fantastic post... it seems like people think it's more acceptable these days to bash the actor and make him/her feel like the worst person on earth. This is WRONG.
ReplyDeleteThese actors put their pants on the same way we do every day. About the only thing they do differently is have hair and makeup put on at the studio. And yet, these actors do one thing wrong in the eyes of people and the bitching begins.
I am tired of it. I'm not making it a one-person crusade, but this has got to stop. I think you and Roger should do something on that as a column.
That's unfortunate that anyone would be so negative toward her. She's done a wonderful job channelling KS's Maxie. Sure she's not KS, but only a deep and abiding respect and even love of KS's work could manifest this well. Anyplace I can shout out for Jen, I will. i'm glad she let us know.
ReplyDeleteI think Jen has done a fantastic job as Maxie. She was very classy and diplomatic in her statement and I think people should STFU and give her (and GH) a chance. Soap fans need to be unified now, not petty and immature. I wish Kirsten all the best. We must remember that some of the most fantabulous characters on daytime were recasts (Hunt Block as Craig and Van Hansis as Luke on ATWT come to mind). Viva la soaps!
ReplyDeleteOh course we all want KS to feel better.
ReplyDeleteJen is now a great Maxie. I am a lifelong GH fan and I love Maxies character. And now Jen is taking that on and making it her own.
Good luck!
