Today In Soap Opera History (January 25) - GUIDING LIGHT Premiered 75 Years Ago Today!

On this date in...

1937: NBC Radio premiered a new radio soap opera, THE GUIDING LIGHT, from Irna Phillips. The show ran on radio (NBC then CBS) until 1956. In 1952, the series debuted on CBS-TV and ran until September 2009. GUIDING LIGHT recreated the early years of the show on the 70th Anniversary in 2007. 1972: On ANOTHER WORLD, a distressed Pat filled Mary and Alice in on Walter's disappearance.

1991: NBC daytime soap GENERATIONS aired its final episode.

  3. Just saw the online episode on the SC website. I didn't start watching GL until about '87-92 so I knew most of the characters but not others and still...gave me a great feeling to see GL when it was sooo good!
