ONE LIFE TO LIVE legend Erika Slezak reflected on her career and the show's cancellation, Prospect Park and the future when she spoke with Smashing Interviews Magazine. She said she was not too pleased with ABC for canceling their soaps, and I think it’s too late to revive ONE LIFE. But, I said that up front. Without Frank, it would be hopeless because Frank was the heart and soul of that show. I think without him, it would be impossible to put it together unless he becomes available again. But, many have moved on, so I think it’s pretty much dead.Slezak doesn't agree with Brian Frons and ABC that fans want "information" instead of "entertainment" and questioned how much money they would actually make with THE REVOLUTION or THE CHEW:
The problem is they’re all trying to be television personalities. They scream and laugh and they talk over each other, and it makes it impossible to watch. I’ve said this to one of their producers. I asked, “Can’t they just speak one at a time?” He said, “No, no, no, they can’t do that. They have to show enthusiasm.” But, you can’t understand them and you can’t hear them.Slezak is open to any new opportunity. Hopefully a savvy producer will cast her in just the right role whether it be on television, the web, film or the theater.

ReplyDeleteThe chew is the most horrible talk show I have ever seen. the "hosts" are inexperienced and there is zero chemistry between them. The fake laughter and lake of genuine enthusiasm is an embarrassment for ABC. I have watched ABC my entire life - includes the news, entertainment, and daytime shows. When One Life To Live ends, I will no longer be watching ABC NY during the day. We lost Oprah for another news show. We lost AMC for the awful Chew and I have no interest in the Revolution.....Bye bye ABC.....
ReplyDeleteI hate it that ABC has decided to cancel "One Life to Live". I have tried watching "The Chew", but it is almost unbearable to try to "listen" to the "banter" the hosts have with one another. I've always hated pretension, and this show is filled with pretentiousness, which is so sad for ABC, but mostly for as wonderful a show as "One Life to Live". Really, ABC, where do you get off thinking that all people want is reality show after reality show? That's not what I want. I do appreciate the occasional reality show, but honestly, the particular shows, and the time slots you've chosen are so, so wrong. My hope is that "All My Children", and particularly "One Life to Live" will somehow be picked up by someone somewhere, and there won't be too long of a stretch of time that the fans will have to wait before Pine Valley and Llanview are back on the air. Please bring them back. These new shows are going to be the death of ABC Daytime.
