Nielsen report: TV ownership declines
Every year, the estimated number of U.S. households owning TV sets goes up. Until now.

According to Nielsen’s annual “Television Audience” report that was released this week, the number of households with a TV set will decline. The rising trend of TV ownership has been leveling off in recent years, and now the number has dropped from 115.9 million homes in 2011 to an estimated 114.7 million in 2012. That’s a 1 percent decline despite the number of households rising.

  1. Just noting that that change reported by Nielsen has already been reflected in their ratings reports for a few months now.

When Soap Opera Digest reported the Household numbers for the six daytime soaps for the week of September 5, 2011, they noted that each rating point now represents 1,147,000 homes. Previous reports had the multiplying factor at 1,159,000 homes.

  2. Oh I'm so excited I love Downtown Abbey and yes is a soap, just set in different time period. It has every element of good soap opera, with amazing cast, excellent production values and sharp dialogue...what could a soap lover want anymore then a good story based around love, sex, deceit and war. This soap lover been hooked since last year.
