Thursday Night Nielsen Ratings: PRIVATE PRACTICE Down; VAMPIRE DIARIES, SECRET CIRCLE, GREY'S ANATOMY Have a Bye Week

Here's a look at Thursday night's Nielsen ratings:

- PRIVATE PRACTICE aired a two-hour special.

- Hour one of PRIVATE PRACTICE was down compared to GREY'S ANATOMY last week, garnering a 2.5 Adults 18-49 rating and about 7.2 million viewers.

- Hour two of PRIVATE PRACTICE was down about 10%, with a 2.6 Adults 18-49 rating and almost 7.2 million viewers.

- Compared to last year, PRIVATE PRACTICE was down more than 13%.

- Compared to GREY'S ANATOMY last year, PRIVATE PRACTICE was down about 69%.

- The CW did not air THE VAMPIRE DIARIES or THE SECRET CIRCLE.

ABC was still proud of PRIVATE PRACTICE. From their press release:

- Gaining sharply on its Adult 18-49 lead-in at 9pm (+67%) and building from its first to second hour (+8%), ABC's 2-hour fall finale of Private Practice moved up to #1 from 10-11pm, beating CBS' Mentalist (+4%) and NBC's Prime Suspect (+136%). In addition, Private Practice finished as the #1 drama in Thursday's 10pm hour for the 8th straight week with Adults 18-34 and Women 18-34.

· Private Practice generated the series' 2nd-most-watched telecast since its September season premiere (on 9/29/11).
