TVGuide.com is reporting that four-time Emmy winning actor Jonathan Jackson (Lucky) will be leaving GENERAL HOSPITAL and will be off the air by mid-to-late December.The actor has already completed his final scenes with TV dad Anthony Geary (Luke).
Jackson returned to the soap in late 2009 after a 12-year absence, and took home his most recent Emmy earlier this year. There's no word yet if the show plans to recast.
Jackson's band ENATION is currently promoting their new album, "My Ancient Rebellion."

NO recast. We've been through 2 recasts and a Re-old Cast. They've destroyed the Spencer Family. Kill him off in dramatic fashion, soapy style. Impaled on Wyndemere's Fence. KInda how I feel about GH lately.

ReplyDeleteI would be happy to see Greg Vaughan return. He was a different kind of Lucky, but a very good romantic lead and heroic, but flawed type. He was hot with Liz, Sam, and Maxie and great with Julie and Genie, and of course Tony. He's a better cop character than JJ, as a plus, and GH needs a few white hats to balance the black ones. JJ is a great actor, but while the acting was great, the stories were depressing amd the chemistry lacking with everyone but Tony. If no Vaughan, I'd rest the character a while till he or JJ is available again. No nees to recast right now and it would be jarring unless it was a beloved name who was also very talented.

ReplyDeleteAre you kidding Jonathan Jackson is Lucky Spencer, Greg Vaughn never filled those shoes as ell, he was mediocre at best. Greg was not the poetic guy that Lucky is and I got tired of his constantly being angry. General Hospital is a fool to let Jonathan get away. He makes the show! I don't want him and Elizabeth back together though he could do much better and was sorry to see "S" die on him. Well if he does leave he can take Elizabeth with him haven't liked her character in a long time.
ReplyDeleteI am with anon, above. First choice is to get Greg Vaughan back and take the character in a different, more leading man direction again, or just to rest the character for a long while. Jackson's Lucky was well acted but it is almost as if he needs tragic tortured stories to be great and GH is always too dark amd tortured as it is. With Jax gone and Steve not really gelling, there are few romantic heroes in the traditional soap vein, and Greg was good that way. Bring him back! Or let Lucky go off for a while. Just do not bring back Jacob Young. He was the most inauthentic of all the Luckies for me.

ReplyDeleteThe show is so precarious everyone knows that then they do things like fire Tyler and Ingo, and give us these recycled stories. How many times is Dante going to be shot? Or Liz be kidnapped, or Lucky be victimized, they should just let LL2 leave together and watch the ratings sink as the two popular actors fans leave and GH will go to prospect park.
