DAYS OF OUR LIVES Star James Scott: "I am optimistic of my future here at DAYS!" UPDATED: Scott Signs 2-Year Deal

Soap Opera Digest reported earlier today that "uber-popular James Scott (EJ) will be leaving Salem when his contract expires." But not so fast! Scott has released a statement indicating he isn't going anywhere.

"It has always been my wish to continue working with DAYS OF OUR LIVES," Scott said in the statement, "and in light of recent reassurances given, I am optimistic of my future here at DAYS!"

So it looks like there's a good chance James Scott's EJ DiMera may be sticking around for a while.

UPDATED:
It has now been confirmed by SOD that James Scott has signed a new two-year contract with DAYS through until April 2013.

  1. Praise the sweet Lord! This better be true, there is no way I would consider sticking around for more of this torture without James on my screen!

  3. Best news of the century! Let me just shorthand this. No James=No Days for this long-time fan! Go EJ!

  4. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Good news? THE best news. EJ was the reason I came back to show and stuck it out during DH's regime. And now that Jack is back, I am dying to see them together in some scenes.

    relieved, betti

  5. I am so glad that DOOL is going back to the roots. Now I think that EJ could be recast but I think James Scott is a very good actor way above most and hope he stays so he can be part of a first class show with his first class acting.

  6. For myself, I just couldn't watch a DOOL that does not include EJ. I've watched for many years but JS makes EJ unmissable for me. Days would loose it's charm if James leaves.

  7. Days had better move heaven and earth to keep that man, he's kept the show afloat for two years of hackley-fied horror! (if the consecutive emmy nom's is any indication!) JAMES SCOTT IS DAYS!!! he's a lovely man, and talented actor, and he will ALWAYS have my support!

  8. This is great news. Now let's hope Days is smart enough to wrap this up quickly and get on with the reset. James is an integral part of Days and is the reason I watch the show.

  9. James Scott is one of the most talented actors I have ever seen on a daytime drama and it would be very unfortunate if days lost him. There is only one person who can portray EJ Dimera and that person is James Scott. James is the person who brought me back to watching days on a regular basis and the fact that him and Alison Sweeney sizzle together on screen.

  10. I really do hope that James Scott remains on Days. I was a casual viewer for 15 years, but it was James' portrayal of EJ Dimera that made me glued to the television daily. I absolutely love this character, even though the writing the past couple of years has derailed from the characteristics that made me love this character in the first place. With the reset, I was very much looking forward to seeing the smart, witty, gray character return, and I hope I will be able to get my wish.

Whatever the outcome may be, James Scott is a talented and dedicated actor, and I wish him the best.

  11. Well, big sighs heard from homes around the country toward the city of Salem if this is true.
The craziness of eliminating James from the canvas of this show at this particular moment in time cannot be over-stated.
    Let's hope sanity prevails.

  12. eOh thank God, I was about to cry when I read the news on daytimeroyaltyonline. For God and sake Days give Ej a female character from his past; a lawyer maybe and a smart brunette for a change (you know his college sweet heart). I am sure all what James Scott wants is a better storyline for him that makes Ej look strong and smart, and please could you forget about Ejami, Ejole. Ejami died when Sami pulled the trigger and Ejole, well I like Ejole but I need a change. I mean really how a man like Ej was only involved with 2 women since he came to Salem.

  13. I can't stand EJ and was hoping this would mean he was leaving. He is a disgusting character.

  14. Thank goodness...I'm optimistic of "my" future as a Days viewer with him staying. I can't imagine anyone else playing the role of EJ...and I'm a diehard EJ and Ejami fan.

  15. If James leaves , then he can be in my film , I need a hot priest : P

I don't watch days anymore cuz theres no Ejami! Give us another Ejami filled fall season please! : )

  16. Thank you soap Gods! After everything we have been subjected to over the past two years, James Scott leaving would be the last straw for me! Seriously. It's bad enough they never wrote the EJami lovestory but no James would be an absolute travesty!

  17. Praise the Lord! He is the only actor that I watch on Days. I don't even watch the rest of the show. I just record it and watch him. Now, I'm just praying for an EJAMI reunion!!!!!

  18. James is the reason I started watching Days and the only reason I have stuck with it the last year or so with the terrible writing and EJ's lackluster pairing with Nicole.

If James goes, so do I. I hope Days and James come to some sort of an agreement.

  19. I breathed a sigh of relief when I read the latest post regarding James Scott's contract. He is the only reason I watch Days any more. TPTB need to realize what a gold mine they have in James Scott! If it wasn't for EJ, Days would have gone down the tubes with the terrible writing of DH and company. Now they need to write a good story for James with a love interest!

  20. Don't go James! EJ is great on DAYS.

  21. I'm with the majority here. James Scott has literally acted above and beyond the past 3 years..helping to hold together a show that sank yet a little lower once you were certain it wasn't possible. While I watched vets of over two decades not manage to carry off a scene convincingly (and with the writing, I can't really blame them) SOMEHOW James kept his composure and did the best with the drivel he was handed.
Since he walked into Salem, James Scott has stolen out hearts. This viewer would be heart-broken were he to leave.
I'm looking very much forward to the return of DOOL (this past week's been VERY promising!) and aside from a few recent hires who continue to need firing, only the full-throttle lift off of EJAMI (EJ and Sami's) romance is needed to put me in on cloud 9 soap happiness!

  22. I really hope this is true. James is the only thing that gets me to tune in to DOOL any more. Even with the return of some of my favorite characters, it was the scene with Ej and his kids that was the most exciting and memorable. James is an amazing actor who has made Ej one of the most interesting and entertaining characters. And DOOL would be so foolish to loose their 2 time emmy nominee (one of the few nominations they even got) at this time.

  23. No days without James Scott. No days without Ejami.
    Please days give us Ejami!

  24. James Scott's dedication to his craft of acting is what brought me back to watching DAYS and has kept me here over the years.

James is the essential element of DAYS. James on screen dynamic, presence, talent and sheer ability to deliver entertainment with such ease is rare.

What ever James has been thrown at by the writers he spins to gold with his emotions no matter how far fetched his script is.

LIke many no James no connection to DAYS for me.

  25. I was so happy yesterday when I thought he was leaving but I also said it was a pity or sympathy ploy! He ruins DAYS for me, when I see his face or hear his voice I lose interest in the show and leave the room. If he or his camp put out the original release of his leaving then I have no respect for the man to pull such a stunt but I think he did the same thing last contract to! Pathetic!

  26. James Scott is one of the best actor in daytime. If Days loose him.Hm no more Days.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I sure hope this is true. I can't imagine watching Days without James. The show has been hard to watch lately, but I still tune in on the days I know he will be on. And I agree with the poster who said the scene in the Horton Square with EJ, Johnny and Sydney was probably the best moment in all of last week.

  28. Honestly I couldn't care less. The ratings have been the worst in Days history the entire time he's been on the show so I'm not sure why everyone thinks the show would tank without him.

  29. James Scott is the only reason I watch days. He is a dynamic actor, and let's not forget the hottest soaphunk. I am hoping that he will win a 2012 Emmy.

  30. James Scott and my eternal hope for a TRUE EJAMI love match are the only thing keeping this 23 year Days fan watching the show any more.... No James means the end of all hope for EJAMI and that will mean that I will no longer watch the show... plain and simple. As to those who would say that this is nothing but a ploy set out by James to get attention, it just proves you know NOTHING about the man.. he is VERY private and actually tends to keep to himself.... going out of his way to AVOID the press at all costs. Every time a major contract comes up regarding a major player at Days, the press always goes nuts speculating if this will be the time that actor or actress will leave the show. The longer it takes for them to sign, or for it to be REVEALED that they have re-signed, the more convinced they become that this MUST mean that they will NOT in fact be re-signing at all, and sometimes, LIKE NOW>>. and like the last time that ALISON SWEENEY had to re-sign.... One of the soap rag-mag's jumps the gun and put's there speculations out there as news.... figuring if they are wrong, they can later print a contraction and there will be no harm, no foul. It is unfair to blame the actor in cases such as this. If the man is hesitating to re-sign, I'm sure he has his reasons for doing so.... I for one, hope he can be convinced.... but until there is OFFICIAL word from someone who COUNTS.... I won't worry about it.

  31. Love James Scott!!!

No James Scott = Me no watch

As it is, without Ejami I'm already wondering why I still watch DOOL. I'm considering stopping. Without James Scott it would be a no brainer.

  32. I couldn't imagine a Days of Our Lives without James Scott. He has brought so many layers to EJ DiMera's character. He's exciting to watch and brings so much to the screen in his interactions with other characters. Days would be amiss to let James go.

  33. I'm still waiting for the good news. I want him gone. I am sick of this overused actor and I use the word actor loosely. This has been a horrible character from the start and I've hated him from the second he stepped foot in Salem. I need an Enormo free Salem otherwise this longtime fan will have to turn the channel since I can't handle all that damn blinking he does along with him being on too damn much.

  34. It's good news that JS is not thinking of leaving days I hope that days will do the right thing for once And keep him on the show because he is such an important part of the show we love Ej if he is evil or good Days won't be the same without JS and his evil character I really hope DAYS KEEP JAMES SCOTT AND RENEW HIS CONTRACT PLZ DAYS LET JAMES SCOTT STAY AT DAYS.
