Today in Soap Opera History (July 30)

On this date in...

1984: NBC soap opera SANTA BARBARA, created by Bridget and Jerome Dobson, debuted. The show lasted 2,137 episodes before finishing its run in the U.S. in 1993. The show continued to air around the world and became an international hit.



2001: Mexican telenovela AMIGAS Y RIVALES debuted on Televisa.

  1. The SB clip brought so many memories. I remember seeing the pilot eps and the love of Joe and kelly. When Joe died (within a year) I didn't watch very often.

  3. I'm pretty sure Ben Jorgensen is actually 42 (born in 1969). I miss seeing him onscreen.
