ALL MY CHILDREN: Who's Staying & Who's Going?

A new story published by FOX411 about ALL MY CHILDREN's move from television to the internet today included some new information on stars that may be leaving. Here's an excerpt:

“I know Susan thinks it’s great news for the fans that it seems a deal is in the works so that 'AMC' can continue. I don’t have any information at this point on Susan’s upcoming plans,” her rep told FOX411.com.

ALL MY CHILDREN star Michael E. Knight, who has portrayed Tad Martin on and off since 1982, seems to be leaning toward leaving. His contract with the show ends in August.

“Michael is looking forward to new roles and new projects,” Knight's rep said.

It isn’t only the actors who are facing online's slimmer salaries. Writers say they expect to see significant decreases in their salaries as well, if they are even invited back when the shows begin life online.

“I didn’t think the Internet needed writers,” one disgruntled scribe said. “I thought they had a bot for that."

Even though the two soaps were not huge money makers on television, they both charged just under $10,000 per 30 second commercial slot last year. That made each soap around $250,000 per episode. Those advertising revenues simply don’t exist online.

“Everything is going to be scaled down, from the production costs to paying the writers and everyone involved in the show,” Adgate said. “It is going to have to be completely scaled back.”
Which ALL MY CHILDREN stars do you think the show must keep? Which stars will you not watch without? Weigh in in our Comments section.

  1. There is no AMC without Erica Kane.

  2. It's all about the writing for me. No matter who they keep, if they write good stories I will get sucked in.

  3. The fingers are crossed that things work out but I'm still skeptical at this point. My hopes were up when Passions was saved and that didn't have a happy ending. There is so much up in the air since some actors are leaving so you wonder who will even bother to stay since things are so iffy.

  4. Yeah, I think this is going to be a big fail. :-(

Writers can't live on online writing wages.

The bigger AMC stars see opportunities elsewhere.

  5. I'm thinking it's important to keep the stars that are known outside of daytime.. Like Susan Lucci and Cameron Mathison! At least for the beginning.. But as Connie said, they need good stories. Without that it doesn't matter who's staying or going.

  6. I'm sad Debbi Morgan has already moved on. I wouldn't be opposed to Bianca and Marissa being a central focus of the web series.

  7. It will always hurt to see old friends leave. I am hoping Susan and Michael both stay. Michael brings tons of humor to the show with his great acting and Susan? Well she is ERICA KANE! What more can one say to that. I will always be in Pine Valley, no matter what.

  8. I BELIEVE THIS CAN WORK THESE ARE SMART BUSINESS MEN AND I TRUST AGNES SAID SHE IS HAPPY TO WORK WITH PP ON THE NEW SHOWS. TAD IS IMPORTANT HOPE HE DECIDES TO STAY. SUSAN WOULD BE GREAT BUT I KNOW COSTS THE MOST AND THINK MAYBE PART TIME BUT DONT WANT TO SEE 5 PEOPLE LEAVE JUST TO KEEP HER. IT CAN GO ON WITH OF WITHOUT IF WRITING IS GOOD. I LOVE KENDALL, TAD, GRIFF, CARA, MADISON, SCOTT, DAVID AND IF JAKE CHANGED HIS MIND WOULD BE GREAT BUT DOUBT THAT. GREENLEE AND RYAN WOULD BE GOOD TOO.

  9. It can work people need to have faith and trust that the company wants this to work. A thing of the future is online tv viewing. Times are changing and don't assume all these cuts they got a large grant for this and have a big jumpstart to this online. Keep TAD, GRIFF, KARA, JAKE, AMANDA, CARA, GRENLEE, RYAN,OPAL,JR, ERICA but agree show can go on without all our favorites us writing and xharactors are good. Kendall too

  12. All the big names are not going online, so where does that leave AMC. Susan has already stated she is gone, so has Michael E Knight. Debbie Morgan has already signed on with another soap. I doubt any of the other big names will stay. We also know the actor that plays Zack is already on another show and just came back to tie up the end of this show. I would love to see AMC work online, but unfortunately I think it's a long shot. I have been a loyal viewer for 41 years. I will go down with the ship, and watch online to see if the writers can salvage the show. Good luck to everyone in what ever you all decide.

  13. I agree that if the story remains the same quality it will be ok. Thru the years thay have switched out new personnel and it was ok. The quality of the show is why I have watched for 41 yrs. Post AMC has depressed me though, I didn't realize how much I look forward to the show every single day. I feel like my whole family has been "lost at sea". The suspense is crazy. I hope it will work out on the net. Thanks to those who are staying. I hope it will be worth your while.
