Hattiesburg native Taylor Spreitler hits prime time, wishes soaps got more respect
"It's an end to an era, and people are losing their jobs," she said of canceled daytime soaps. "It sucks that they don't get the respect that they deserve. I grew up on soap operas."

Spreitler said she didn't worry too much about her soap opera experience on DAYS when she started auditioning for other roles, although she did wonder if casting directors might hold it against her.

"If I'd been on for 10 years it might have been different," she said. "I have been very blessed to work for four years straight."

Arab Spring transforms TV and movie industries
Typically Ramadan season sees a rise in soap opera and cinema viewership in the Arab world. But experts say this Ramadan may be different. Many factors could contribute to a slump in their viewership because of the Arab Spring.

GREY'S ANATOMY: Shonda Rhimes Talks Mer-Der's Struggle, Cristina's Pregnancy
"I usually start planning my seasons [by planning the last scene first]. This year, we just don't know. I just don't know what we'll be doing at the end of the year, so we couldn't start out that way. We're doing it a little bit differently this year. I pitched eight different scenarios for the end of this season, but we don't know which ones we're writing to. So right now, we're concentrating on the first half, then we're going to concentrate on the second half as a separate shock."

  1. So glad to see that Pam Hobsworth is coming back to Coronation Street.

We all need a fix of Aunty Pam and she will brighten up the recent Corrie storylines. Well done Corrie - I was beginning to lose faith in you.
