Today in Soap Opera History

On this date in...

1950: HAWKINS FALLS debuted on NBC on Saturday nights. The show was more of a comedy at first but later turned into a five days a week soap opera.

1966: On THE GUIDING LIGHT, Bill Bauer was caught drinking by a colleague.

1988: Joseph Hardy's last day as executive producer of RYAN'S HOPE. Felicia Minei Behr took over until the show ended its run the following January.
