Roger Newcomb is a producer and writer in New York City. Aside from co-hosting WE LOVE SOAPS TV, he has written and produced a full-length indie film, Manhattanites, and two radio soap operas, SCRIPTS & SCRUPLES and ROCKLAND COUNTY. He has also made acting appearances in indie web series IMAGINARY BITCHES and EMPIRE. He has consulted on numerous indie soaps and is currently an associate producer on THE BAY and executive producer on the upcoming indie short May Mercy Lie.

  2. Mimi Torchin makes some good points here. Why didn't ABC consider changing how the soaps are aired? If All My Children and One Life to Live are too expensive now, why not make AMC and OLTL a half hour long instead of an hour? Why not change the schedule, like airing one soap three times a week and another twice a week? Or why can't they look into raising revenue through other methods, like charging for internet streaming or overseas sales? And why don't soaps reflect current issues more instead of constantly showing old cliches like baby swaps and characters coming back from the dead?
