MAD MEN Deal Is Done: Matthew Weiner Signs For Two More Years

There will be no cuts to the cast of MAD MEN and Season 5 won't likely debut till March 2012, but Weiner and AMC opted to compromise on the issue of cutting episodes short.

As the LA Times reports, "The first and last episodes of the upcoming fifth season will run at 47 minutes and the rest of the episodes will run at 45 minutes. Weiner will have the option to make those other episodes at 47 minutes for other platforms including video on demand, DVD and iTunes."

Weiner also signed a long-term deal with Lionsgate that will make a 7th season highly likely.

  1. I am so happy they finally came to an agreement. I was really getting worried for a while there. Mad Men is SUCH an amazing show. AMC needs to give the writers all the artistic freedom they ask for.
