WINNERS: 2nd Annual Indie Soap Awards

The 2nd Annual Indie Soap Awards were held on Monday night at The Ailey Studios in New York City hosted by the hilarious Martha Byrne and presented by We Love Soaps.  DIARY OF A SINGLE MOM captured the Indie Soap of the Year award.  The show also took home the prize for Outstanding Lead Actress with Monica Calhoun winning her first Indie Soap Award.  Anthony Anderson from ANACOSTIA was named Outstanding Lead Actor giving perhaps the most poignant speech of the night.  The mostly industry crowd praised the new frontier of storytelling on the web in a number of speeches from winners that consisted of former daytime soap favorites and new indie pioneers.

Second, will We Love Soaps be broadcasting video of the event as you did last year?

  4. Congrats on pulling off such a nice event.

How were the winners determined - and by whom? Was there a panel of judges?

  5. Thanks, everyone. We are thrilled with how the event turned out.

Columbus, we consulted with some of our peers who cover web series to help come up with the nominees and winners. It's such a huge number of shows now and we try to keep up each week as best we can to not overlook anyone. It's an exciting time on the web for content developers and these folks are such positive forces. Promoting and honoring them is one of the most rewarding things we do. :)

    Next year bigger and better!
