Shocking Replacement At DAYS

According to Soap Opera Digest, DAYS has replaced Natalia Livingston's character of Taylor Walker with her former GENERAL HOSPITAL castmate, Tamara Braun.  This comes as quite a surprise, especially given that the show proudly publicized the hiring of Livingston several months ago.

Several weeks ago, Taylor Walker returned to Salem after an eleven year absence.  As played by Livingston, she has been sweet, kind, down-on-her-luck, and suddenly in love with E.J. Dimera.  One can only speculate the reasons for this change.  But based on Braun's Emmy winning run as Ava on DAYS back in 2008, we can expect that Taylor will be more edgy, tough, and a force to be reckoned with that can rival Nicole and Sami.

What do you think of this move? Was it wise to replace Livingston so quickly? Will it be strange to see Braun back in Salem as a different character (along with all the other actors that have played dual roles)? Do you think Taylor is an asset to life in Salem? Let us know in the comments below!

  1. I'm not sure how I feel about this. Of course I haven't seen her as Taylor yet but it almost seems like they want to make Taylor more like Nicole. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens but I was liking Natalia unlike the first Ari who was just horrible.

  2. Guess that means Tamara won't be returning to AMC as Reese. Not that I was holding my breath on that one.

Her run as Ava was what, 3 months, 4 months? She may have won an Emmy for great work but I don't think it left such an indelible impression that viewers won't accept her.

I mean, they've accepted Wayne Northrop playing both Roman and Alex North. They've also accepted Josh Taylor playing both Chris Kositchek (sp?) and Roman. They accepted Judi Evans playing Adrianne and then Bonnie and then Adrianne again.

Tamara's a strong actress, much stronger than Natalia. She'll be fine in the role. Will give Sami and Nicole a run for their money.

  3. Sometimes I wonder if these people have any clue about what they're doing. I'm not the biggest Natalia fan, but I can't believe that her performances have been a surprise to them. So far I've seen exactly what I expected to see from her.

Tamara is a fine actress, but she doesn't have the best reputation when it comes to sticking around. I'm predicting that the character will be switched from a nice girl to a villainess, and will be murdered during an upcoming ratings month; when Tamara becomes bored with the role 9as she always does).

So much for long range planning and character development.

  4. I personally would have rather have seen Bruan come back as Sarah Horton. She could still have competed for EJ's affections, but faced off against Maggie at the same time. She could have acted out against Chloe and Melanie, jealous of how much Maggie cares for them. She could have gone after Brady, which would again put Maggie directly in Victor's orbit. Ah the possibilities...

  5. Days has been my guilty pleasure for years. But I suspect the writers don't think the viewers are terribly intelligent. This history of recasting actors as different characters is hard to swallow. I liked the contrast between Nicole and Taylor. Turning Taylor into just another psycho woman is a tired cliche.

  6. I don't like it at all.. The new Taylor is really boney and unattractive to me.. Not that looks are everything, but the old Taylor was beautiful and innocent looking. The new one is not! I could see why EJ fell for the old Taylor and would want to cheat on Nicole... but for the new one? Highly unbelievable.

  7. The sexual tension between the two actors Natalia and the actor EJ was undeniable. I watched because they had true chemistry. Natalia through her acting skills showed the kind of torment that would go on in a persons soul if confronted with this situation. I think the switch makes absolutely no sense to me... This whole story line is now making this program one more reason to stop watching. If youcould move your stories along alittle and had more actors like Natalia you wuold never see sopas going off the air.... Just my opinion...
