FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS Ends Tonight

I consider FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS to be the greatest primetime soap opera of all-time. I never thought anything could replace KNOTS LANDING in that spot but it did. It's honestly my favorite television show ever. Tonight, the final episode airs on DirecTV's The 101 (the final season will re-air on NBC starting on April 15).

It's quite remarkable that the Nielsen ratings of FNL have remained anemic for all five seasons but the show survived anyway. It spoke to the hearts of everyone who watched, and obviously a few network executives as well. The performances of Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton have been largely unrecognized by awards shows, but their Eric and Tami Taylor characters are the most realistic couple ever portrayed in any entertainment format I have seen.

It's going to be a sad farewell but is there any doubt this show is going to go out with the same kind of heart that made it so special during its run? Tune in tonight at 9 p.m. on The 101 to say goodbye to the town of Dillon and the fascinating people that live there.

  1. Agreed, Roger! China Beach is still #1 show of all time for me. But FNL has replaced Knots Landing as #2 :)

My favorite moment is from Season 4 when Tammy counsels Becky about her pregnancy. I'm in tears every time I watch
