Alternative to Emmys to debut May 2012
The Paley Center for Media announced today that it has scheduled its first awards program for May, 2012 in New York City. Earlier this year, a committee of TV executives — which included Sony Pictures TV president Steve Mosko and Fox Networks Group CEP Tony Vinciquerra — began discussing the creation of a new awards show that “would take a fresh and distinctive approach” to giving away trophies that would also “attract a broad and diverse viewing audience to a televised event.”

GLEE Premiere to Include Jay-Z, Gaga, Poison
The first episode will feature renditions of Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind,” Lady Gaga’s “Telephone,” Travie McCoy’s “Billionaire,” and Poison’s “Every Rose Has Its Thorn.”

For the first time ever, Univision wins the week in adults 18-49
Granted, it was a low-viewership Labor Day holiday week. But it still reps a major milestone for Univision -- and a reminder that demographics are indeed changing in this country.

Minka Kelly: I Didn't Freak Out on Delta
Kelly's lawyer, Marty Singer, tells TMZ ... Minka paid extra to bring her dog on board the flight. There was never an issue on the L.A./New York trip. But Singer says on the return trip, the flight attendant would not let Minka's dog in the first class cabin during takeoff and landing because of space issues. Singer says Minka took her dog back to coach for takeoff and landing and spent the rest of the time with her pooch in first class.
