NEWS: D.J. Diomedes, End of Era, CORRIE, Melissa Reeves

BOSTON GLOBE: The end of the soap opera era
"An era is passing, and other than a few newspaper stories that quote sad baby boomers, it’s hard to find a lot of public mourning. In our culture, soaps are guilty pleasures, at best: sentimental kitsch with endlessly circular love stories, bad production values, and none of the she-said-what hipness of Wendy Williams."

Milford native D.J. Diomedes wins his 3rd Emmy
On June 26 he received an Emmy for "outstanding achievement in technical direction, electronic camera (or) video control for a drama series" for his work as a camera operator on GENERAL HOSPITAL.

"When something needs to get done, you make it happen. If you earn a reputation for consistency, you're asked back for the next job," he said. "You've got to live with pressure and stress. They say in the business you're only as good as your last shot."

CORRIE character to be killed off in Afghanistan war
The Sunday People reveal that Quinny will be killed off by a Taliban bomb in Afghanistan later this year while saving Gary's life.

Melissa Reeves on her first week back at DAYS OF OUR LIVES
