EVENT: Nathan Parsons in "NeverWonderLand"

Theatre, dance, music and inspired storytelling leap into the Miles Memorial Playhouse as Boom Kat Dance Theatre’s “NeverWonderLand” kicks off its five-week run on July 24. Getting lost somewhere between London and NeverWonderLand, Peter Pan and Wonderland’s Alice, brother and sister, find a fresh start in this inventive prequel for all ages to J.M Barrie and Lewis Carroll’s beloved children’s tales.

Energized by the sold-out success of their 2009 three-week run of “NeverWonderLand,” the creative team has gone back to the drawing board to rewrite, re-imagine and rediscover their original concept. Infused with a healthy dose of modern magic, this version offers skinny jean-clad Lost Boys and a life-sized, puppet-wielding Tinkerbell. What remains the same is the timeless challenge: as they make friends, encounter enemies and defy gravity, the siblings Peter and Alice must discover a balance between fantasy and reality, social pressures and individual desires, and childhood and adulthood.

The adventure runs July 24 through August 22, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM, Sundays at 2 PM at the Miles Memorial Playhouse in Santa Monica. Advanced tickets are recommended ($20 general, $15 students, $10 children 12 and under) at: Brownpapertickets.com/event/116760 or 800-838-3006. For group tickets or further information, call 310-202-9229 or visit boomkatdance.org.
