NEWS: Emmys, Aliens in Hollyoaks, Wild Ponies

Broadcast networks risk losing Primetime Emmycast
If the Big Four don't make a deal by the time the show airs Aug. 29 on NBC, broadcast exclusivity ends and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences can solicit bids from basic and pay cablers. This show ends an eight-year "wheel" in which the Big Four did two shows each under the contract.

HOLLYOAKS faces alien invasion‎
An alien called Kevin is to befriend Elliot Bevan (Garnon Davies) in HOLLYOAKS for an upcoming extra terrestrial storyline for the Channel 4 show. An insider said: "Some of the cast actually burst out laughing when they were told about Kevin. But they have already started filming the storyline so it's going to happen."

Wild ponies tamed by THE ARCHERS
Four wild ponies used to roaming free on moorland are being trained to work with humans thanks to THE ARCHERS, a rescue center has said. Beth Hewis, 32, founder of the rescue center, said: "They've now become used to human voices and been transformed within a week of listening to THE ARCHERS. They are probably following the storyline by now."

EMMERDALE voted best UK soap for gay plots
In a survey by campaigning charity Stonewall, EMMERDALE received 43% of the vote. Stonewall chief executive Ben Summerskill said: "We waited years for a decent gay storyline to be written into a soap. Then - in EMMERDALE, EASTENDERS and CORONATION STREET - three turned up at once. We wanted to find out how well gay people felt these storylines reflected their own lives."
