NEWS: Carlivati, Young, Chappell, Beck, Stagecoach

INTERVIEW: Y&R's Peter Bergman
"It has never been my favorite plot device but to the ever-loving credit of Stacy Haidukk [Patty/Emily] she has made it absolutely winning. She has gone to every limit, and has been incredibly brave. I think she has been strongly undermined by having a second character in Genoa City with the same kind of plastic surgery, and this is no reflection on Tracey Bregman [who plays doppelgangers Lauren and Sarah]. I perhaps flatter myself but I think the audience did roll with the Patty/Emily story. Then we had to sully it by trying it a second time."

Sean Young to appear on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS
Young begins taping her story arc in May when she will play Meggie, a sultry barmaid who gets tied up in a mystery with business tycoon Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). It’s a reunion for Young and Braeden as the pair filmed the Civil War drama The Man Who Came Back in 2007. Young replaced Melody Thomas Scott in the web soap, THE REPUBLIC, which has been delayed multiple times now.

ONE LIFE TO LIVE going in "a new and different direction"
ABC Daytime PR chief Jori Petersen is addressing those long-running rumors that OLTL head writer Ron Carlivati will get the ax when his current contract ends—rumors that amped up recently when ABC hired AS THE WORLD TURNS' current head writer Jean Passanante to join the OLTL team. “Jean was brought in to help Ron at Ron’s request,” clarifies the rep. “There are plans to take the show in a new and different direction, and we have absolute confidence that Ron will make that happen. The network in firmly behind him.”

INTERVIEW: VENICE/DAYS star Crystal Chappell
Before the HRC's "One Voice Can Change the World" Mile High Gala in Denver over the weekend, she spoke to OutFront Colorado about Otalia and VENICE: "I did not have to do much to prepare. I am equally attracted to men and women and I like both genders, so it is not an issue for me. You are attracted to who you are attracted to and fall in love with who you fall in love with. This is who my character is — a gay woman. It wasn't difficult to understand or portray her."

Recap of Noelle Beck's SELLING NEW YORK episode
"Apparently the $7,000 a month in maintenance fees are killing the parents of AS THE WORLD TURNS soap star Noelle Beck (the anxious owners). And they're probably not alone. Since the pad, listed for $5.45 million, is just sitting there costing Mr. and Mrs. Beck lots of money, Rundhaug suggests renting the place furnished for $25K a month."

Stagecoach music fest draws tens of thousands
The ABC Soap Nation tent was especially popular with many lines streaming out of the area. Melissa Rodriguez, of Corona, was one of those that braved the long lines and got to meet cast members from ONE LIFE TO LIVE. "The SOAPNet part was the most exciting thing," Rodriguez said.

  1. Hmmm, interesting.

Not even sure what to say about the new direction they are planning on taking One Life to Live...(should I be nervous?)...

or Sean Young joining the cast of Y&R. I remember Sean was on the red carpet a few years back for the Daytime Emmys...and even the daytime stars were left to wonder why she was there.

And last...but not least...seeing buzz around the net that people are taking this quote from Crystal Chappell as her outing herself as a bisexual woman. I am not sure what to make of it since she has made similar comments in interviews just last year. What is so different now?

  2. Honestly I believe Crystal probably is bisexual but mostly she just believes in falling in love with the person. She said before that she fell in love with Michael because he made her laugh, and how wonderful of a person he is and she could of just as easily fell for a woman. I really don't get the shock either.

  3. I am a bit worried for OLTL. Things are just not looking good. Ron is great when left alone in my opinion to just be the writer. Not sure how I feel about others stepping in. We will see.

As for the Crystal Chappell comment...I believe she is one of the most honest sincere actresses out there. She has made comments like this before so maybe she is bisexual but maybe she is just open to finding love wherever it might turn up. She has proved herself to be a true ally to the gay and lesbian community.

  4. I don't see a need to label Crystal as anything except an open minded individual who is doing her best to provide a show for an under-represented group..more power to her!!
