EASTENDERS Turns 25 With Live TV Episode

EASTENDERS is celebrating 25 years of being on the air with a live episode in which viewers will finally find out who killed Archie Mitchell.

The actor who plays the killer will be told of their character's guilt only 30 minutes before the show is broadcast tonight, EASTENDERS producers have revealed.

The show's writers have penned 10 possible endings to the episode, with each of the different suspects rehearsing their scene unaware of which will make it to air.

Possible culprits include Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor), Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks), Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) and Bradley Branning (Charlie Clements).

But the entire cast is still clueless about the identity of the guilty party - and EASTENDERS producers stress it could be anyone.

Archie (Larry Lamb) was bludgeoned with a bust of Queen Victoria in the pub named after her following storylines which saw him alienate many of the residents of Albert Square.

EASTENDERS fans are desperate to know who the killer is, and bookmaker William Hill said over $1.5 million was expected to be wagered on the outcome.

In its latest odds, the firm put Sean Slater (Rob Kazinsky) as favourite at 4/7, even though the character has not been seen in the show since January 2009.

  1. I thought that maybe Archie's first wife could have murdered him, because it seemed so coincidental that she suddenly showed up. On the other hand, both characters Peggy Mitchell and Bradley Branning are possible culprits because both characters are leaving the canvas.
