REVIEW: The Return of LEVERAGE, Tonight on TNT

TNT's hit series LEVERAGE returns tonight with the first of six all-new episodes. As the second season opened last summer, the LEVERAGE team reunited in Boston to settle more scores against those who use power and wealth to victimize others.

LEVERAGE stars Academy Award winner Timothy Hutton as Nate Ford, the leader of a team which also features Aldis Hodge (FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS), Gina Bellman (GRANGE HILL), Christian Kane and Beth Riesgraf (UNDRESSED). The sexy Jeri Ryan (THE O.C.) is back continuing her guest stint as a temporary member of the team.

For those who haven't watched LEVERAGE before, Nate is a former insurance investigator who first got into the racket after his former employer refused to pay for treatment that could have saved his son's life. The team includes Sophie Deveraux (a grifter), Eliot Spencer (a "retrieval specialist"), Parker (the thief), and Alec Hardison (a gadget and technology wizard).

As the last batch of episodes ended, Sophie's conflicted personal relationship with Nate left her questioning whether she wanted to continue with the team. She decided to take some much-needed time away, but not before arranging for a friend and fellow grifter, Tara Cole (Ryan), to fill in for her.

We Love Soaps screened tonight's show, "The Runaway Job," which airs at 10 p.m. ET/PT on TNT. The focus is an oppressive sweatshop, and the LEVERAGE team must infiltrate the fashion world. The chemistry between Hutton and Ryan is explosive. Watching that relationship develop, and the impact it has on Sophie, who only appears on computer screens from various locations around the world, will be fascinating to follow as the team navigates through a series of cases which includes a predatory loan shark, a psychic medium and a corrupt local mayor.

LEVERAGE is sort of a MISSION IMPOSSIBLE for con artists. The show keeps you on your toes trying to figure out exactly how the cons are going to work. It's a fun, light-hearted episodic series, with a hint of continuing romance and dramatic sequences that soap fans might find appealing.
