NEWS: Franco, Francis, Chappell, EASTENDERS Streaker

Conceptual Artist Carter on James Franco’s GH Appearance: “It was my idea”
Carter says: "It was my idea to suggest to James to do a soap opera, and that would tie into another film he and I are working on. But a lot of the work was outside me. As far as why the soap opera was GENERAL HOSPITAL or the development of his character, I didn’t have much influence. I did suggest, however, that he should be an artist. The writers on the show basically took it from there. And in turn, in some roundabout weird way, he’s now playing an artist with one name, as maybe a shadow of me.

"Of course people are going to and they already have. But I think people are cynical and lazy and that’s what that’s coming from. It’s incorrect. I don’t want to call it 'satire.' That’s rude."

VIDEO: Genie Francis joins her singing siblings for Christmas
The Francis family: Kenneth, Genie and Ivor, are enjoying their time together as singing siblings. Together, they've come out with an album of Christmas music with what she calls "a retro feel."

"This is new for me," said Genie. "I've never sung before, but my brothers have been doing it all their whole lives so I feel sort of safe with them. They hold me up."

Streaker flashes EASTENDERS stars
A construction worker invaded the set of EASTENDERS yesterday - and bared his body at Barbara Windsor. Grinning Joe Wainwright was working on a nearby site when he saw Babs - Albert Square's Peggy Mitchell - filming Ricky and Bianca's telly wedding scenes. He instantly darted over and whipped off his overalls and high-visibility jacket before prancing around 72-year-old Barbara and fellow actress Cheryl Fergison, the show's Heather Trott.

CORRIE stars pay tribute to Maggie Jones
William Roache: "She was a tower of strength, physically frail but mentally strong as an ox and sharp as someone half her age. She had an amazing dry wit and was as funny, if not funnier, than Blanche. We were great crossword partners - we sat through Tracy's trial scenes doing the crossword together. I don't think Maggie ever realized how much she was loved - not only by everyone on the show but by the millions of Blanche fans out there. She will be greatly missed."

INTERVIEW: VENICE producer/star Crystal Chappell
"We wanted to set a very creative tone and bring to the table the freedom of interpretation so the actors could contribute in the fullest way. The greatest challenge is in the acting because it is a very different mindset to just be performing and it is another to be thinking about production values, story arcs, etc. It really is a combination so the acting became the most challenging."

  1. I was very impressed with the quality of acting that James Franco exhibited in this soap opera. Having seen some of his other work, this was, by far, his superior acting performance.

It takes a tremendous amount of talent to be able to portray a character like "Franco" and it was a refreshing change from what normally goes on in Port Charles with an intriguing individual.
