HOT STORIES: Malcolm Returns on Y&R

Not being the first actor to play a role doesn't necessarily mean you won't be a huge success (Don Hastings, Erika Slezak, Melody Thomas Scott, Robin Strasser and Martha Byrne instantly come to mind). It's much harder though when the audience has clearly identified with the previous actor in the role that was played for several years. Shemar Moore was Malcolm Winters to a lot of people. This week, Malcolm returned to THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS played by Darius McCrary. It was a jarring to say to this. It will take some time to find out if fans will accept him in the role. What do you think so far?

  1. NuMalcolm seemed to be an okay actor. I just Y&R's less than reliable writers can give himt a good integrated storyline that is worth the return of the character.

  2. He doesnt have 'the look'; ergo, I don't think I will ever accept him as malcolm. He is probably a decent actor, but I can't get past the visual disappointment. As a thread on DC noted, why couldn't they have gone after actors such as Boris Kodjoe or Rahsaan Orange. Those brothers bring the physical image along with the acting chops. Soaps are definitely a visual medium so recasting such a shocking physical change to a character that was known for high-charged sex appeal is misguided on the production's' part.

  3. Not be cruel, but picturing Darius McCrary as a replacement for Shemar Moore is like replacing Susan Lucci with Snooki from "Jersey Shore."

  4. hello! what about the sexy sexy Lawrence St. Victor?! He's much closer to Shemar's level than Eddie Winslow!

  6. My ideal recast for Malcolm would have been Henry Simmons.
