News Round-up: WGA Diversity, People's Sexiest, Edwards

Little diversity progress among writers
The WGA West's 2009 Hollywood Writers Report finds "little if any" improvement in employment and earnings for women and minority writers. The report, authored by UCLA professor Darnell Hunt and recently posted on the WGA Web site, found that women scribes remain stuck at 28% of TV employment and 18% in features while the minority share has been frozen at 6% since 1999.

For the season (through Nov. 1), each GREY'S ANATOMY episode has averaged an additional 2.9 million viewers with DVR viewership factored in

People's Sexiest Man Alive issue includes GLEE & Bomer
The guys's from GLEE - Cory Monteith, Matthew Morrison and Mark Salling, 27 - made the list as did former GUIDING LIGHT hunk Matthew Bomer (Sexiest Rising Star), 90210's Ryan Eggold, GOSSIP GIRL star Chace Crawford.

"I came up with about a page of basic story about the cat that's the clichéd small town person comes to Hollywood and they don't know anybody, and all of a sudden, their head and their ego gets huge as they gain stardom ... it followed every story out there, every cliché [laughs]. It was these certain points that I wanted the actors to hit. Then I'd sit down with the record button and I'd improv with them and act like I was interviewing them."

Tevez learning English from CORONATION STREET
Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has admitted he is finally starting to grasp the English language, thanks to watching CORONATION STREET. The 25-year-old Argentine has lived in England for over three years but has struggled to pick up the language as quickly as other foreign stars, and has turned to CORRIE for help.
