THE BEAUTIFUL LIFE Canceled

The CW has made THE BEAUTIFUL LIFE the fall season's first casualty saying production would cease immediately. The most recent episode didn't even make it to a million viewers.

  1. Cant say i'm shocked, when I heard the premice I knew it wasnt going to last long CW can pick some good shows but occasionally they just think they can put pretty people on screen and we'll watch. I wish they had of picked up The Body Republic.

  2. My sympathy to the cast and crew of this show. I'm sure many had to disrupt their lives to move to NYC, hoping that the series would succeed. Some of the cast were first time actors. I hope that they are able to bounce back soon.

In general, I'm disappointed in the CW because of its canceling the Game and Everybody Hates Chris, thus ending the CW's African-American shows.

Not too long ago, the WB and UPN used have several primarily African-American cast shows. Now there are none. As recent reports have indicated, diversity on TV has nose-dived. While there may be people of color sprinkled into ensemble shows, there are only a handful of shows with leads of color compared to the beginning of the decade. The major networks, NBC, CBS, and ABC, at this point have no shows with a non-white lead. That's worse than in the 1980s when Cosby aired.

  3. Many of the CW shows are the same. MadTV did a spoof of them several years ago called "Pretty White Kids with Problems." That's basically the case today with the exception of Smallville and Supernatural along with the occasional reality show.

The ratings for most of the CW's hits are less than those of the Young and the Restless, and are closer to those of the recently canceled Guiding Light. Too bad GL couldn't have found a home in syndication on the CW.
