News Round-up: Ted David, Womack, DeVasquez

Former CNBC anchor Ted David to appear on ONE LIFE TO LIVE
Ted David, who left CNBC as senior anchor for CNBC Business Radio, has been regularly heard as a substitute anchor on WINS (1010 AM). He's also landed a role on ONE LIFE TO LIVE, after OLTL executive producer Frank Valentini said he liked David's work on CNBC. His first appearance airs September 8.

Battered and bruised, local outlets launch more of their own shows to get back in the fight
With stations suffering from slashed revenues and similarly slimmer resources, it's a difficult time to launch a local program—which, paradoxically, might make it the perfect time to start swinging. Broadcast executives say this could be the right opportunity to grab share from a downsizing competitor, knock the escalating prices of syndicated programming down a peg, or simply boost the station's market presence amidst an increasingly crowded media landscape.

THE LAIR's Gay Vampires Return for Season 3
Jody Wheeler writes: "The only difference between this soap and ONE LIFE TO LIVE is that all of the shirtless men in THE LAIR kiss each other, instead of just two. For some that's plenty. For many others it isn't."

Tina Hillstrom Throws Shower For Ronn Moss's Bride To Be
Ronn Moss (Ridge, B&B) and Devin DeVasquez will be marrying next month at a private ceremony in southern California. On Saturday, August 15, beautiful Beverly Hills socialite Tina Hillstrom or “Tina O” as she’s called in local social circles threw DeVasquez a bridal shower. “Devin experienced a beautiful afternoon at her home with over 40 girls. It was an all white bridal shower that rained with laughter, tea sandwiches, champagne and a brilliantly executed toilet paper wedding veil fashion show that engaged the partygoers with delight,” said Ms. Hillstrom.

EASTENDERS star Womack devastated by father's death
Samantha Womack has been left devastated after her father was found hanged. Noel Janus' body was discovered dead in his bathroom by a friend on Saturday, and 'EastEnders' actress Samantha - who plays Ronnie Mitchell in the BBC soap - was seen in floods of tears as she visited the one-bedroom council flat in Brighton yesterday. Her husband Mark Womack said: "She asks to be left alone to grieve with her family."

Litter campaigners blast CORONATION STREET for cigarette thrown on floor
Brazen Becky McDonald and her husband Steve McDonald were seen flagrantly flicking cigarettes to the ground twice in a single episode. CORRIE producers claimed they DELIBERATELY showed Becky as a litter-lout as a way of conveying her "troubled" nature. Keep Britain Tidy campaigners slammed CORRIE bosses for showing Becky treating the street "like a giant ashtray."

  1. The comparison between ONE LIFE TO LIVE and that rubbish called THE LAIR fails on all levels. It's an insult to OLTL to even be mentioned in the same sentence as that other show.

  2. Just want to make a correction - I may have shared the link to the Paley Center video, but it's not in any way my footage. I wasn't even at the event. I know who shot the footage, but I'm not sure she want her name mentioned, so I'll refrain from that.
Nice of people to share their photos and stories from this event with those of us who couldn't be there - thanks!
