Y&R's Jeanne Cooper Wants to Win Another Emmy

Longtime THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS star Jeanne Cooper won her first Daytime Emmy Award last year after 11 nominations. She gave a wonderful speech at the time and would like to win again this year so she can make a statement about the fact that the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) now charges some of the winners for their trophies.

I'm dying to win so I can get up on stage, take out my plastic and say, 'Can I put this on Visa?'

Cooper also is ticked the awards will air again as an overblown network special with a rec-carpet preshow.

We in the soap world should stop trying to be something we're not, especially in these tough economic times. We've lost touch with our audience, which is the middle class of this country. That's who made us famous. That's who keeps us on the air. And they don't give a damn who's wearing a Vera Wang.

    I love Jeanne and hope she does win another Emmy...she's a brilliant actress who has chemistry with everyone she shares scenes with.
