Y&R's "Almost" Original Patty Williams: Lilibet Stern

Lilibet Stern debuted on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS in 1980 and played the role of Patty Williams for a couple of years. Tammy Taylor was technically the first Patty, but very few remember her. Stern was the first Patty to many, just like so many Y&R fans can't imagine Melody Thomas Scott wasn't always Nikki (Erica Hope anyone?).

The video on the right is a music video. If I recall correctly, Stern also left Y&R in the middle of a contract. She is now out of acting working as a job interview coach.

  1. I didn't realize that she left in the middle of a contract. I wonder what the circumstances were.

I really liked Lilibet Stern and the story. I remember Jack being just so awful, Danny being so in love with her.

Andrea Evans was good but the recast felt really jarring to me at the time.

  2. Bob, Soap Opera Digest recently talked with her and made that statement about Stern's contract. I have read some classic articles that indicate otherwise, but I'm assuming Stern would know.

  3. So what did ever happen to Patty Williams? :)

  4. Is there a link to the Soap Opera Digest interview?

The recast of the role with Andrea Evans was very jarring and didn't feel quite the same. Lilibet Stern always played "Patty" as a girl wanting to be a woman, but Evans seemed to just play it as a woman who wound up being scorned. I never believed Evans' "Patty" to have been an "innocent."

The scene with Jerry Douglas and Ms. Stern you linked to is terrific. Great dialogue, great performances, and--as always--that wonderful, emotive, classic Y&R musical underscore!

The music playing on the other video is from the soundtrack to "Bless The Beasts And The Children." If you listen to it, the basic "Y&R" theme is there!
