News Round-up: Hagner, Wagner, Bundy, Reckell

DTV: A Few Tweaks Left
Some of the problems with VHF reception are simply due to consumers not having the correct antenna; many antennas marketed as “HDTV-ready” are UHF-only.

This Week's Gold Standard: Wagner and Davidson
Tommy Garrett of the L.A. Canyon News writes: "Jack Wagner had to play outrage, but he also had to be loving with his mother. Wagner is obviously capable of playing both and showed no signs of weakness when he told Jackie that this relationship was not good for her. Davidson the past month hasn’t had one day without high drama and heavy emotional scenes. Any lesser actress would have long cracked and started playing the scenes less brilliantly. But not Eileen."

DAYS' Molly Burnett on TRUE BLOOD role (her guest spot airs tonight)
"I hadn't seen the show so I watched a random episode. And it was the one where a vampire is sleeping with this girl who is all tied up and I'm going, 'Oh, my gosh!' But my best friend told me it wasn't all like that and that the show was great and it would be really cool to be on it."

Baby on the Way! Soap Stars Reveal How They Learned the News
Peter Reckell: "Kelly gave me a box wrapped in a box and I thought, ‘What the heck? It’s not my birthday. It’s not close to our anniversary.’ It was the proof that she was pregnant. That was the first part. The second part was the blood test at the doctor. When she called me with that result, I was with my dad and my brother Tim snowmobiling in Montana. We had stopped at the top of a mountain for lunch and she was ecstatic. I thought, ‘Wow, my life is changing.’"

Meredith Hagner credits success with 'hard years' at Chapel Hill High
"High school wasn't easy for me," she said. "I was an awkward kid and had identity crises left and right."

Hagner said her only struggle has been playing a character that is younger than she is. Liberty Ciccone is a free-spirited 17-year-old who likes to get into trouble.

"Soap operas are known for a lot of drama and the characters live in a heightened reality," she said. "I try to show her as realistically as I possibly can."

Noelle Beck, who plays Hagner's step-aunt in the soap, said the age difference is no match for the talent and skill that Hagner has.

"She's able to show many different ranges of emotions," Beck said. "I wish she was my daughter on the show."

Laura Bell Bundy trades Broadway for music
The Kentucky-born actress (ex-Marah, GL) is leaving a theatrical career that saw roles in "Wicked" and "Hairspray" as well as a Tony-nominated turn in Legally Blonde: The Musical to throw her hat into the country music ring. Last year she moved from New York, bought a condo in the Gulch (in Nashville) and started writing with local songwriters. Universal Music Group is set to release her still-untitled debut album early next year.

Reality star Kendra Wilkinson has pre-wedding shower at Michael Sutton's bar
Gathering at Hollywood's Guys and Dolls bar-lounge (a hot spot owned by former daytime drama heartthrob Michael Sutton, who portrayed Stone Cates on GENERAL HOSPITLA), pals bearing provocative presents for the bride-to-be stopped at the door to record video messages for the guest of honor before sampling servings of Sprinkles cupcakes, US magazine revealed.
