News Round-up: Otalia Speaks, Zimmer, Gabriel Project

"Otalia" Speaks
Olivia (Crystal Chappell) and Jessica Leccia (Natalia) spoke with Advocate.com about their blooming romance on GUIDING LIGHT.

INTERVIEW: GUIDING LIGHT's Kim Zimmer (Reva)
"The production values have had to be reduced, and they don’t have the money to spend on these shows anymore. They don’t do the elaborate location shoots anymore. I can really only talk about our show, and that the stories have had to change to accommodate the way we shoot our show now. You can’t do those fabulous cloning stories or walking through the portrait stories anymore, because we are targeting a more realistic show. Even with all those bizarre storylines we used to do on GUIDING LIGHT, we had such damn good actors on the show, and we made those ridiculous storylines work."

VIDEO: OLTL Stars Support The Gabriel Project
Soap Opera Digest has posted video clips with some of the stars from ONE LIFE TO LIVE who ventured to Brooklyn, N.Y. on March 28 to support The Gabriel Project with its fifth annual Daytime at Nitetime event. The Gabriel Project provides life-saving heart surgery to childen from areas where such surgery is not available. OLTL's Brett Claywell (Kyle), Scott Clifton (Schuyler), Bree Williamson (Jessica), John Brotherton (Jared) and Ilene Kristen (Roxy) took a few minutes to speak with Digest.

INTERVIEW: Soap Vet Brian Gaskill
"I had fun with each of the characters, and enjoyed making each one 'live' in a different way. The most fun was B.J. on ATWT, but Rafe is the one that closest to me in my life."

Hansis and Silbermann on a possible Nuke marriage
“I think our characters are too young to get married,” said Silbermann.

“Right now we’re taking it slow. The characters are 20, you know?”

Adds Hansis, “And as awesome as it would be to tackle that story, once you get married then kids come along and then you have like a 38 year old grandmother on the show.”

The CW Enters Summer Programming Fray
The CW, likely home to the Daytime Emmys, is launching original programming this summer, a first for the network. The two Summer series are Washington D.C. docu-drama BLONDE CHARITY MAFIA and reality relationship series HITCHED OR DITCHED.

“We’re very excited to be launching original programming during the summer months for the first time,” said Dawn Ostroff, president, entertainment, The CW in a statement. “We want to keep this season’s momentum going by freshening our schedule with two new reality shows with fun, relatable concepts aimed squarely at our young female demo.”
